Lock, Stock And Free Transfer Barrel

Well all the free agents out there are now well and truly free, will we be making a move soon or are we waiting for the barrel to empty a little more before we start scraping the bottom of it?

If I were truly cynical I'd say we're waiting to take our pick of the players nobody else wants so we can basically name our price and get them on cheap wages. Then all they have to decide is Bates or the dole?

Can't see us paying for anyone and if we can't afford to match average players like Kilkenny and Johnsons wage demands what chance do we have of attracting even the better free agents to the club?

There is money but of course we're spending a reported £7 million on a stand which is part of a ground that doesn't even belong to us, unless of course Ken is the mystery owner of that too...

With a little strengthening in some key areas (defence/midfield) we had the makings of a squad capable of reclaiming a place in the top flight, then we'd have had money enough to spend on the stadium and be in a league where people would fill it.

Oh God I hope I'm wrong and by this time next week we'll have brought some quality in and secured Gradel and Snodgrass to long term deals. But if I were a betting man...
