Liverpool suffered an absolutely miserable day in Newcastle on Sunday afternoon as they slumped to a sixth defeat in seven league games, and had goalkeeper Pepe Reina sent off.
The Reds were actually the better side in the early stages of the game, and had Andy Carroll not taken a dive in the ninth minute when he would have otherwise had the goal at his mercy, it could have been a different story.
Martin Skrtel also missed a chance for Liverpool, and the Reds were denied a blatant penalty when Danny Simpson handled the ball on the line.
But Newcastle struck first when Hatem Ben Arfa crossed the ball in from the right and Papiss Cisse headed it into the far corner off the post.
And they scored the second just before the hour mark when he received the ball again from Ben Arfa, with suspicions of offside, and controlled it before slotting it in.
By now Liverpool's heads had completely dropped and things only got worse. Reina received a straight red card for aggressive behaviour towards James Perch and, because all three substitutions had been used, Jose Enrique took his place between the sticks for Liverpool, and the match fizzled out for a comfortable victory to Newcastle, leaving the Reds below neighbours Everton and 11 points behind the Toon.

Why Perch didn't get the 2nd yellow stopping Suarez.
Atkinson missed the handball and should've sent Perch and Simpson and Dalglish as well for not lying. Dalglish told us his squad is good enough.

Reina was an idiot. He's old enough and experienced enough to know that irrespective of how hard the contact was, if there's contact, he's off. The free kick had been given, Perch was going to get a yellow, all Reina achieved was to give the ref a decision to make.
Blaming the ref should not distract anyone from what was a poor performance throughout the team. There are too many at the club who don't seem willing or able to take responsibility for their own, and the team's performances, and shame on them for that. Fans will forgive a lack of ability, but not a lack of fight.
What I saw was a team waiting or everyone else to do something.

Reina decision wouldn't have made a difference to the result anyway.

Cheers everyone. I guess there's one positive to take from this game - things can't possibly get any worse, can they?
