Pool vs Villa - who's dreading it more?

A quick trip over to the Liverpool board and it's looking a lot like the Villa board or Sports Witness - life isn't roses in either camp.

Villa have a manager who's (almost) universally unwanted, an owner thats keeping quiet, and an injury list that makes War and Peace look like an abridgment.

Liverpool, after spending big in the summer could possibly do a cup double this season, but fans aren't too happy with the league position or a few of the signings. Recent league form has been well below expectation.

As a Villa fan I'm looking at the Liverpool game and thinking "if we go at them, we could get something", but there's a good chance AMC might set up for a 2-0 loss and be done with it.

A couple of Liverpool fans have called the Villa match no easy game, which is frankly flattering Villa at the moment.

So who's dreading it more? Villa fans who can see the relegation battlers edging closer and closer, or Liverpool fans who think that maybe KK doesn't cut the mustard?

I think we can score one or two, but I have a feeling we'll have a couple of sloppy defensive errors and either draw or lose.

What's everyone else expecting from this?

villa are always the ones that teams end their drought against...its happened a lot this season .. liverpool will beat us and beat us comofortably 4-1

U8345 - it does tend to happen like that, but mainly in matches where we're seen as having a good chance.

I'm not dreading the Liverpool game. On paper Liverpool should win it. But ... Liverpool are on a bad run, and even though we've had a bad season there's a real chance that Villa will come together as we did at the end of last season (when we beat ... who... oh yes L'pool). This is one where we can be positive. If we lose, we lose, if we win, Great!

So long, just so long, as Alex sends the young team out with a positive message. If he plays Heskey and goes for a draw at best, his time at Villa is up.

MTG,

I would bet my house on McLeish playing for the draw- does he know any other way?
He also knows that 4 or 5 more points should see Villa definitely safe and his approach has always seemed to be to go for a draw- whether playing Liverpool or Wigan, Man U or Wolves.

Bluenosedan... could you please explain why you are on the villa board so much?
are things on the championship board really that boring?
you idiot.

We've been completley toothless all season and I fully expect Liverpool to end their losing run against us.

Free country, free board.

I don't wum, just make observations- e.g. AM always sets up for a draw- I'm not quite sure why you should get so offended really.

I think this is a big game for both teams for differing reasons .I wouldnt like Mcleish to be the one that takes 2 teams from the same city in consecutive seasons down to the championship. We,on the other hand, need the points to catch the bitters.Prediction...........we will either win, draw or lose!

Yes,i agree, we have been toothless all season.
The only thing that is certain these days is that we will concede from a corner. I wonder what the odds are, i bet not that great!
Having said that i could see both teams playing out a 0-0.
Worst of all, McLeish will be delighted.

We are definitely dreading it more. Pool are in with a shout of another cup, we have nothing to show for the season. It's easier and less painful to write off a season when you have some silverware to cushion the league disappointment, compared to possibly writing off a presence in the league next year?
