the first team right now

Bored on a saturday lunch time ( its lunch time for me anyway ) so i thought i would put down what our most probably first team would look like right now

Smithies

Hunt P Clarke Woods Naysmith

Roberts Joey G Gobern McDermott

Rhodes Novak

i put woods in centre mid with PC although i know its not his natural position, he was brought in for his versatility and we all know PC needs someone alongside him with some pace and distribution

Joey G gets the nod alongside Gobern because of his experience

Rhodes and Novak up front together as i think these 2 give us the best chance of scoring goals...Allen lee to come on after an hour or so when Rhodes is cream crackered .

still think we need a good holding Midfield players and a genuine CB with pace and clarity on the ball

Leven would be ideal for this role i think, droping deeper to pick the ball up from the back 4 and starting an attacking move , he may even work well in a diamond formation with McDermott at the tip , roberts on the right and gobern on the left .

i know its very early for speculation like this but like i said i was bored on a saturday lunch time

What's Bennet done wrong to get kicked in the teeth?

looks good kindon. but u fallen out with roberts?

I think he will leave Tez ! His mates who he spends all his time with Pelts, Pilks & Vaughan will all have new clubs next season and ive Robbo he can be mardy so I figure he will go !
I also remember last November on Twitter (which he deleted the day after) he put ........"No-way am I signing again, I wanna go......"

We have bought a lad with fire in his guts that will put in the performances and I honestly think that selling with large profits the so called 'stars' will prove the best thing for our club..

There was talk in the local rag that Roberts was to be offered a extension to his contract.Whether he'll sign is a different matter, having said that he's older than both Pelts and Pilks and he probably realises that playing any higher than League 1 is probably best achieved with Town.

Here's my team...

Smithies

Woods Clarke McCombe/Mirfin Naysmith

Roberts Arfield Gobern McDermott

Rhodes Novak

Robins is better than Frank Worthington, Jimmy Glazzard, Dennis Law,

Mike O'Grady better than Alec Jackson, Vic Metcalf,

never saw jackson, glazzard, law and metcalf but yes, Worthington was good, but I thought robins was just such a cool goal getter...good shout though..

You must have seen Dennis Law play for Man U

I never saw Glazzard, Jackson of Metcalf.

Robins scored well (25) in that 1 season only (79/80 I think) and that was Div4. He was a flop in Div 3.

I never saw Duncan Edwards play for Man U, but it's safe to say he was better than Ian Robins

Bennet hasnt done anything wrong far from it.

i just feel smithies deserves the chance

Art that looks like a strong first team to me , but i have to admit that i have reservations with McCombe and Clarke playing together. they had a good purple patch last season but it was against a fair few lower placed clubs, they seemed to get caught out a lot last year when the opponents had pace in their team .
