In Europe ?
After a heated discussion with mrs Weare last night i thought i would ask this question ?
She supports Chelsea and we watched the game at home, i took very little interest until Benfica scored , then i was on the edge of my seat cheeringthem on.. much to the dismay and anger of the other half
She accused me of not being patriotic ? and said i was pathetic I asked her how many Englishmen were in the Chelsea squad ?
now she had the last laugh and was jumping around giving it large when they scored the winner
Is she right , am i unpatrriotic?
I remember growing up and cheering on Aston Villa and Liverpool in Euorpean Finals so what has changed ?
For me it depends if you go to or have been to games, armchair fans who follow their team but dont worry if they win or lose tend to be more open to supporting other british teams
I want Arsenal , Chelsea and Westham to lose every game they play.
having been to hundreds and hundreds of Tottenham games i dont want to hear Chelsea or Arsenal bragging about winning the champions league.. If barca win it , no one can give me stick about it
Do you support other British teams in Europe, if so why and if not why?
Should we support our British teams

Paul
So would I, just seeing Chronic and Don's reactions would be hilarious, although I know a lot of Gooners as well so if either missed out it would be a win/win.
If Sunderland do them this weekend I can see it happening and them choking

should we support British teams in Europe? I rather support a team that plays good football, if that is a British side then so be it.
But in reality all the British sides have been pretty pathetic in Europe hence why all apart from one have dropped out like flies. Chel$ki have been fortunate avoiding the top sides but Barca will soon change that.

People loved to trot out that same line about United, lucky they avoided the big teams...
The thing is though last season people only counted Real and Barca as the big teams, this year now they have actually made it through a few rounds (and beat City in the group stages) Bayern have been added to this big team list...
If you going to make the big team list so exclusive then of course teams are going to get through a fair few stages without playing them, especially if they are group winners...
Ohh and there is a huge difference between the level of investment Fulham and Wigan had in comparison to the likes of City and Chelsea...
I still didn't like Cities huge investment when they were still in about 5th, over the last two seasons when they have won the FA cup and jumped up to title challengers hasn't increased or lessened my dislike of them one bit.

Not in proportion to the expenditure of other clubs, it's like Fleetwood this year in Blue Square Prem.
They turned down a 140k bid for a player, that would be enough to buy most of the clubs in that division.
QPR's wage bill was 183% of of their turnover. Their £29m wage bill was almost on par with Spurs (a top 4 club) and over double that of most of the other Championship teams.

When you say was...
Do you mean it was in the Championship or it is now?
If you mean now there is perhaps some excuse for that with them having ownership problems which stopped them bringing in too much at the start of the season and then come January time when could actually buy some players they were struggling near the bottom.

It was in the Championship, even larger now I believe.
A £29m in the Championship is absurd though.

Then I will give you that one, that is insane...
Actually... thinking on it...
29/52
£557,692 a week.
/25 (first team squad rough size)
£22,307 each.
Does sound a bit excessive, I would assume only the top players in the championship actually earn a bit more than that (excluding players that go down ala Alan Smith on 60k a week in championship with Newcastle)
So either they were paying way above normal championship wages or they had some very highly paid back up players..
Insane..

sweet pea - england is a strange one for me personally.
Alhough I always want england to do well, the last england game I went to I got so much abuse (not white by the way) from england fans that i possibly wouldnt go again for a long time if at all.
____________
Are you talking about a home game at Wembley and you were targeted by fellow England fans purely for being black?
I'm genuinely shocked and sorry to hear that. I've never heard or seen anything like that at an England game from our own fans at our own supporters. In fact whether our supporters were black or white fans when I was there wouldnt have even registered with me.
I've definitely heard racist abuse directed at black England players from the opposing team, and usually thats been responded to negatively by the England fans in the ground, so it makes it even more shocking to hear people from the same group directed abuse at a fellow England fan for being black. I guess logic isn't those kind of guys strong point though.

Sorry Carricksleftpeg I just noticed you said 'not white' rather than black. Do you mind me asking what ethnicity you are? Clearly it shouldnt make a difference but having said the stuff above I can definitely imagine at least one group being targeted if the morons perceived you to be part of it for whatever tenuous and idiotic reason.
