I like most get frustrated with the consistent changing of the squad by SAF.
Recently listened to a discussion which may have cahnged my mind. It was in relation to Martin Oneil and why he would struggle at a top 4 club and why he 'failed' with Villa
basically the argument was that MON was old school and once he had a first 11, he pretty much stuck with it. Which is brilliant if you are Sunderland and looking to achieve a high league position over 38 games.
The roblem arises when you are involved on a few fronts. By the end of the season the team is tired and tends to tail off, ala MON temas generally tend to do
UTD however tend to get stronger in the second half of the prem. Basically whilst other teams are tiring UTD are not, Hence you get the late goals etc
thoughts?
PS this isnt dissing MON, he was the man named
Tinkering with the squad

Is our CL performances down to underestimating teams. I know it wouldnt be a trap that Fergie would normally fall into but our results at home have been shocking. Whats certain is teams came to OT in Europe this season and played without any respect or fear of UTD,s reputation..

Yes it is.

Do you think the fact that we were perceived to be in a weak group set the tone for the performances. Its amazing that Fergie couldnt get the players out of the rut although you cold see him at times struggling to make sense of it.

A lot of it was tactical errors, like going 4-4-2 against teams packing the midfield.

We also lost Cleverly in that game Hippo and then the litany of injurys started. That bolton game seem to mark the end of momentum we had built up at the start of the season...

But the biggest garbage I tend to hear is Wayne Rooney being better than Theo Walcott which is just complete and utter nonsense and laughable. Its absolute madnesss.
Sir Bobby Robson has described Theo Walcott as the greatest talent he has seen to emerge since Maradona and I couldent agree more.

If Martin O'Neill had more fronts and the squads Fergie has had over the years and the money to spend, then he'd probably tinker a lot more also. You can't have players playing 60 games a season, whilst some may be fine, most will be burnt out for the business end of the season.
