Brutally honest Hill...finally

Just read the post match. Brutally honest, almost hard to read. If I take a single positive from tonight's aberration, it's this. It feels like Hill has hit rock bottom, and is finally accepting what he has built just isn't good enough.

Now is the time to back him. No joy in kicking a wounded animal.

I totally agree, now is the time to back the manager. And i'll be right there at the front.

The apologists need to wake up, however. There is no brand of football, clean sheets have definitely not been king and lower league footballers are being judged on their performances, not their background.

Nothing wrong with voicing opinion of team display or dissapointment in results.
But the gloating and told you so comments regarding our teams demise are pathetic and stomach churning.
WE SHALL OVERCOME!! UP THE REDS!!

Also as an aside, I myself watched the game on TV, The thing that annoyed me the most was Mark Bright's godawful commentary.

Please BBC, never ever let him commentate at Oakwell again.

I'll assume I'm judged as an apologist...

Two seasons in one..

BC..Before Christmas...Fully fit squad, assembled in close season, playing decent football reaching an high of eighth in mid December.

AD..After Deadline...Unavoidable sales and string of injuries wiping out our five best players (six now with Steele) No side in this division would be able to take these blows.

Please, please, please would either of the spanners just tell us how they would have resolved our problems.

P.S I would also argue that the lower league signings have been more impressive than the loanees from Premier clubs.

I take it you're choosing to totally ignore 'now is the time to back him', 'i totally agree', 'now is the time to back the manager' and 'agree'

You're ignoring all them bits then, are you?

Good o.

Hills comments after match are spot on we seemed to compete for 1st 5 mins Davies having a couple of shots god hope we can keep him in summer because last 6 months he's had no service or played out of position but I don't no about any1 else that was there yesterday but the other thing that is really starting to bother me is this trend of half of our so called supporters walking out earlier and I'm not talking 5 mins early yesterday they were going home 30 mins into game one 3rd gone granted it was 3-0 and we needed a Miricle but If ur in our team your gettin outclassed in 1st half hour then u turn and see half your supporters leaving can't imagine that does anything to help but it hasn't just Been yesterday it's been last few home games the exception been Peterborough as we were winning sorry for the rant and before any1 says I'm not shifting blame onto any1 else but surely were in this together so as they say let's stick together and get behind them win draw or LOSE again sorry for the rant just really bugging me.

Stuff like this happens every season, every player who performs well ends up leaving and usually at either a loss or a derisory sum (McIndoe, Howard, Hammill, Shackell).

For some time now I have been resigned to the fact we can't compete at this level of football because of our resources can't compete. Survival is as good as it gets and that in itself is a magnificent achievement.

I remember a Leicester fan on our boards saying his team have spent "modestly"; 5 players for around £4 million.

All we can hope for is that Hill can put together a team over the Summer, but even then most of our success came from the quality of vision, movement and technique of Butterfield Drinkwater and Vaz Te.

The lower league players can't produce this and I worry about next season, but que sera!

A very decent and fair article, Royal, and excellent comments from every contributor so far, although we don't all agree, there is a sense of the reality of our situation.

Although some mock the idea of stronger together, most of us understand the need to be supportive, to do otherwise is defeatist and cowardly.

Proper fans in this post, and thanks to you all.
