Bresnan's record of always being in a winning team must not be ignored by the selectors. His name should be on every team sheet irrespective of form or fitness.
Under test playing conditions a player who is not on the field for a considerable length of time cannot bat higher than number seven, which is no problem, as he never bats higher than seven anyway.
He could sit in the dressing room with a top class fielder as substitute, whilst having an occasional net to keep his batting in shape ready for England's innings.
So when England take the field against the WI in May, the selectors will be missing a trick if he does not figure in the test eleven.
Bresnan must always play!

Bell's average in tests 2011 = 118. What was Bopara's in the county championship. Says it all really.

What was bells average in the 2012 Winter tour to Sub-Continent?
Bopara is the present & future - Bell is past it!
Bell was so poor even against average SL bowlers who wont get in many County teams in England & Wales.

do you think that bopara's greatest achievement in cricket to date is as great as bell's greatest achievement in cricket to date ? if so, what would you regard that achievement as being ?

Bopara has played 12 tests having 21 innings and scoring 553 runs in total. Of those he scored 355 runs in his three centuries against a weak WI team and was dropped several times. In eight of his innings he failed to reach double figures.
If he is the present and the future of test cricket, we are in big trouble.
The only thing he can do better than Bell is swagger around like a member of a street gang.

I dont want a slanging match here.
If you believe Bell is better then that is your opinion.
I believe Bopara is better & deserves another chance. (That is just my opinion)
Bell has had 10 chances this winter & only made 1 decent score which is going to keep him in the test team for another 5-6 matches which is diabolical as far as im concerned.
Bopara can also add his medium paced bowling option to the team as well.

At test level he's a pie chucker. Trott is a better option with the ball.
