Say we did end up losing these players; nasri, cesc, clichy, denilson, squilachi, almunia and bender.
And for the sake of the article say arshavin and diaby aswell
How happy would you be for us to pull a United 92 and go full out on promoting youth into the first team? (and i know united did not exactly replace every player with a teenager, but in this scenario neither would we, we would just promote at least 5/6 young players)
The likes of Lansbury, Henderson, frimpong/coquelin, gibbs, Afobe, Bartley, Özyakup and co
We would still require some transfer activity coming in - like a lucio or de rossi, perhaps even parker to just steady the ship
From my perspective ... if we did not win anything or drop out of the top four, however we did it because we were giving the younger players a chance, i would be fine with that.
If we did not win anything or dropped out of the big four because we lost players and bought in replacements who are simply not good enough I could never accept that as an adequate excuse given the circumstances
I mean, our youth prospects are looking very good - perhaps they do get hyped up to much and there are academies who are producing higher grade (barca for example) but we have been growing this crop of players for close to 10 years, most of them now have a loan spell under their belts and must be ready to make a step up
So how would you gooners feel about going into next season with the young players being given a chance to start?
Would you mind if

Tbh the only first teamer you mentioned that i really want to keep is cesc. If nasri went i would be happy if we buy a like-for-like replacement with the money, somebody more suited to the wing. As for the youngsters, i think bartley could do a better job than squillaci, lansbury/coquelin could do a better job than denilson, and luke freeman/afobe couldnt be much worse than bendtner. This is more a critisism of our first teamers than an appraisal of our youngsters though

If our big players leave wenger needs to get the replacements right or we will drop out of the top 4 which i think the fans know which is why everyone is desperate for any news

Not yet. If Toral, Bellerin, Aneke, Bunjuku, Afobe, Miyaichi, Bartley, Gibbs, Jenkinson, W.Silva all push on then maybe.

Yeah, I'd mind big time! Like everyone I'm wondering what on Earth Wenger is planning to do.
Next season it's likely to be probably the most competetive season in England we've seen probably since the Prem began.

By "push on" I mean become world class, which won't happen.

We forget already that a midfield of Wilshere, Ramsey and Song beat Manuers just a couple of months ago.
Chesney
Sanga, JD, TV, Gibbs
Song, Wishere, Ramsey,
Walcott ,RVP, Chamack
Thats a pretty good starting IX

--------------Martinez--------
Jenkinson--Bartley--Miquel--Pedro Botelho
-------------Frimpong---Coquelin------
Lansbury---------------------------Miyaichi
----------------Wellington Silva-------------
--------------------------Afobe--------------
That is basically a team of players on the edge of the squad. Pre-season could be massive for all of them, as they could prove to Wenger they are ready to step up.
Pedro Botelho, Bartley, Frimpong and Lansbury are the closest, imo.
Sadly Coquelin will miss pre-season as he is playing for the French u-20s, otherwise he would be in with a great chance of taking Denilsons squad position. Ryo and Silva will need a work permit first.
And that is without JET, Eastmond, Freeman, Aneke and others.
