Liverpool's Strongest Team

I was just thinking how rubbish our team is at present, BUT, take away the injuries and Dalglish's poor team selection decisions I'd say we were not a team of the strength 7th or 8th but in actual fact a top 4 challenger - based on this team -

There are definitely areas for improvement and the two decisions I struggle to choose a stronger player in are Downing or Bellamy and Adam or Henderson.

Truthfully the weakest area in that selection is Adam's spot. Him or Henderson for me do not install confidence. The wings also could be improved but I would suggest the players there are not as a poor quality as Adam.

This would leave a bench of: Doni, Coates, Kelly, Henderson, Downing, Kuyt and Carroll.

Carroll and Downing offer a different approach to the game with width and height but I think that approach should be saved for the final 30 mins if still chasing or to give the opposition something to think about if they get to comfortable.

Other than the weaknesses pointed out there is certainly on paper a Champions League or at least fringe Champions League quality team there. The base is in place. A few tinkerings here and there like the wings and central midfield. I'd like to see a powerhouse with an eye for a pass fill in Adam's spot though don't ask me to name names!

And as everyone has been calling for a pacey winger. Gerrard's quality speaks for itself, Lucas is top 5 Prem DM's; back 5 are very capable, Suarez is class but needs other players to step up to his standard. Bellamy probably is almost there and Maxi I would say is on his wavelength.
