Doncaster Rovers 1 : 2 Burnley

Sorry - no match article today

Difficult to say much anyway. Its as much as a must-win as you can have without it becoming mathematically impossible to stay up if we don't win.

Burnley haven't got much to play for. They could still technically make the play-offs a little like our last opponents but I doubt whether that will motivate them to beat us 4: 0 or anything like that.

Sorry, guys,I told you we were crap last season when we drew with Leicester at home at the end of the season which didn't matter as other results went our way.We have continued to be crap this season because we have no strategy.I told you this is division three & four follows. We do not have the support or depth that Sheff U & Sheff W have,as you say,at the first sign of failure we are deserted!I don't know whether Dean Saunders is up to this size of a challenge. This needs to be reviewed very quickly next season, not left to fester as happened with S'OD.

I think we have to give Saunders a chance to get a pre-season under his belt and attempt to build a team that he wants - subject to the obvious financial constraints. Only then can we truly judge him and place any failings completely at his door. I don't think it would be fair to do that this season as there have been several factors beyond his control.

And let's be honest, regardless of anything else, what other options do we have? Paying yet more money to break his contract and paying the sort of money required for someone with the requisite exerience and track record just isn't going to be financially feasible.

I think if you have been a Rovers fan as long as most on this site you know it's never an easy ride, but there's been some good times these last few years. Next season is just another chapter in the rich tapestry that is being a Rovers fan.

"Saunders has not once hidden from sight and refused to speak to the press. I, and I hope others will be with me when I wish him all the best for next season with a team that he chooses. "

I wish him as far away from Rovers as possible. So he always does an interview whoopy-do. He's not once (apart from a select bunch of Alliance members when he was first hired) faced the fans to do a forum despite several requests to do so. He is happy to face the press because he accepts no blame for what has happened

I'll be there next season, I paid for my ST last week but nothing will change my belief he's up to the job and I have no hope of coming straight back up either, or finishing mid table - I think we'll be in another relegation scrap next season

I agree we need a clear out of some players but I'll add the manager and his assistant onto that list too

I meant not up to the job sorry. New addition to the family unit is tiring me out

I'm with you NY as per usual what people fail to see and its evident what youve wrote donny_lass is we've been on a downward spiral since january 1st 2011, so if you want to blame saunders add sod jr and the board and more importantly the players into that bracket, the latter few were all here before deano and if you remember we were in a relegation battle last year and didnt deserve to stay up based on our 2nd half of the season finish!

so people crowing they wanted a meeting with deano why not higher up and get all the board to attend at the same time and answer proper questions put to them instead of deflecting whats been asked and moving onto something else like has occurred before, then the supporters know what direction if any we are going in.

our level playing field is league 1, thats where we'll be next season, we dont have big enough crowds, budgets and in most cases players to compete at championship level so if we hold on to plenty next season we should see some improvement on this but as DR4E says we need to rebuild. Then get a pre season under our belt and start from there. I'll still be there next season thousands wont but thats rovers fans for you, if we're not winning where not happy, thats why they boo players, sing deano saunders barmy army when its 0-0, then we go 0-1 down then its saunders out, brilliant isnt it!

Azza

I know we've been on a downward spiral and yes there are more people to blame than just Saunders.

Also I never boo players \(or Saunders for that matter) I don't sing "Dean Saunders Barmy Army" or "Saunders out" even though I think it

I purposely didn't want this to turn into a comparison with O'Driscoll but in reply to your remark about crowing people wanting an audience with Saunders, well O'Driscoll did forums for over a season, regardless of whether we were winning or losing. Now he wasn't a man comfortable with speaking to people so if he can do it why can't Saunders? I've heard him speak, he's definitely got charisma

I think, given our gates league 1 is our level and I don't have a problem with that. I also think we need to rebuild - I just don't think Saunders is ready to do that

Donny lass im not saying not for deano to attend a forum or meeting etc id like all connected from the board down too deano to hold one i think that would give supporters the chance of gaining answers that they're after.

I agree. League one is our level and that has been obvious for a long time, Fuzzy will know the answer to this. How many league games have we won this season and how many did we win last season? gates of around 8000 - 9000. We will get those gates in League one if we are in top half of table year after year. We cannot compete with Championship Clubs, If the three that came down last season did not go up and then another three came down, plus two or three that come up with bonuses for promotion, that is 9 teams with more crowds and more finances, plus the clubs that are well supported and have big bucks. We were always up against it. I have no problem at all with going down, I forcast it a long time ago, but one thing is for sure, we will not go month after month without winning games, in addition with other matters, there is more scope with FA Cup and Johnson's Paint Trophy to bring in extra revenue. A reserve team is a must and players that are already getting paid, the cost would only be the match officials and away transport. So let's not be down hearted let's be realistic and have smiles on our faces again. Le JR and the brass sort out the ground etc and we get behind the team and the manager. He was brought in as the fall guy and try as he did, the omens and politics within the club were always going against him.

UP THE ROVERS

Agree 100% ionly. The club had ambitions of doing a "West Brom" and yo-yo-ing between The Championship and the PL - more realistic is League 1 with the occasional (if we're lucky) season or 2 in the Championship - at least until we develop a bigger fan base... and as you say - time to start smiling again!

Yes,you are all quite right.Look at how many ex-Premiership teams there are in the Championship & even League 1.We have always been boxing above our weight!Look at the teams that were league teams that are now in the conference, with Darlington almost certain to exit this, which is where we almost were 10? years ago.C'est la vie,C'est la guerre!C'est la League 1!
