Liverpool favourite for FA Cup

We are favourite. But I think the winner of Saturday semi final will go and win the cup.

We will remain an attractive proposition regardless. If we had made the CL spots then we obviously could attract a higher caibre of player, but anybody who thought getting fourth was a given, with a new team needed their head tested.

I didn't think getting fourth was a given at all but the very least I expected from this season after the promising end to last season and the expenditure in summer plus the meltdowns of both Chelsea and Arsenal was to be fighting for fourth spot. The fact we were out of it with a quarter of the season to go is where I think we have failed this season.

We shouldn't accept a manager who isn't able to fight for the top 4, even if we miss out, as we are a bigger club than that.

What happens if the new man (whoever that may be) fails to get us into 4th, will he be sacked too?

---------

if thats the goal he is set, and he fails as spectacularly as kenny has this season then yes.

having said that, i think kenny has been let down big time by the players... downing (according to brad friedel) takes time to settle into a club and get going but charlie adam (i dont think) can use that excuse... im sorry, but how different is taking a corner at blackpool in comparison to liverpool?
his corners at blackpool were essentially half a goal, at us they are half a clearance...

I also disagree with this. What we accomplished 20 years ago has no bearings on European top notch players' desires to join us I'm afraid.

too expand, the last time we won the league was before some of the 'world class players' we would like:
league won: 1989-90

Eden Hazard: 7th january 1991
Christian Eriksen: 14th February 1992
Iker Muniain: 19th December 1992
and many other were born another 2 years before, so hardly going to remember us (league wise)

you get the drift...

We will remain an attractive proposition regardless - Just to clarify, eliminating some of the clubs who are in the CL, we will remain an attractive proposition for new players.

stonfacd,

Adam has been inconsistent and was bought for 6-7m. Personally, i never expected him to be a world beater, just a squad player option.

There have been mistakes made this season, the Carroll panic buy stands out for me, but this team is in it's infancy and if were were to win 66% of the competitions entered I think it would be madness to sack the manager.

I would still want Kenny to stay if we pick up form in the league and make it to the FA Cup final. If you add in the massive improvement last season he would still have enough credit imo to keep his job and see if he can turn around our league form next season.

But why?

i honestl think it depends on what manager the club could bring in. if they could bring in a top class manager then yes do so, if not, kep kenny... dont go back to rafa.

i have LONG believed (since reading his autobiography) that mourinho would come to us and always laughed at people that thought he would go go to united.

mourinho wants to go somewhere and create something. from benfica to uniao de leiria to porto to chelsea to inter to real madrid. every place he went, the team were not doig well and he could resurect something. at man utd he would only be considered a success if he outdid fergie.
at liverpool, he can create something, and resurect something.

i know i sound stupid but i have a bet waitinng to be paid off from the days he was at chelsea with odds of high 20's that he will manage liverpool.

so basically, if we can get mourinho, or some other current world class manager then yes, bring them in (i do not class rafa as world class, and never have). if not keep kenny, but hold back the money, or better yet, give it to this forum, let us buy the players, cause we know best :P

Well in answer to your question; we're currently 8th in the league with 7 teams clearly better than us in our country. We're a far cry from challenging for major honours or even the Champions League, it will look to these players that we aren't going anywhere.

The fact that you haven't named any specific reason why a player would join us does indeed speak volumes.
