5 points clear

Football table end Feb:

..........................Pl......Pts
1. Manchester City ...26.....63
2. Manchester United 26.....61

I would have given my right arm to be 5 points clear.

Now we are 5 points clear, it is a great thing, not a bad thing.

Of course it's great. I didn't expect it.

Everyone is just gutted about last night. Losing to a team we have never dropped points to and haven't got a player that would get in our side.

No excuses from me though, wigan deserved the 3 points.

Hopefully it gives us a big kick up the backside and we thump Villa on sunday. Norwich nicking at least a point wouldn't go a miss either.

If we blow an 8 point lead with 6 games left......then we only have ourselves to blame.

Whatever happens in the title race. Changes need to be made in summer. CL, Europa, FA cup and Carling cup wasn't a fluke. We have a BIG squad but too many mediocre players in it.

I am happy with our position, but last nights peformance was appalling, probably our worst game of the season (and wigans best?). I personally think SAF got it all wrong last night. Giggs over Scholes?

Also, right near the end of the game, could Wellbeck have scored if he didn't try to do something fancy? From what I saw, it was a simple tap in, but he tried to do a fancy flick and missed it.

we are in exactly the same position as we would be if we had won last night but City had beaten swansea the other week. So I think we should be too worried. I wouldnt fancy playing Norwich or Newcastle away if I had only got 10 points from the last 9 away games.

Its all relative and it is always feels better to have won your last game and lost the game before rather than the other way around. We are still in a good position though, just need a proper come back from this minor setback. City have 2 away games before the Derby and if they drop any more points it could be all over. So they will be under lot of pressure. If we go into the derby still 5 points ahead, it will not be bad place to be in.

What you say OP is very true.

The point is that we were 8 points clear, and have given City some hope, that they really did not have last night.

Yes last night's result was disappointing but when we went 8 points clear my only thoughts were that we could then afford to lose 2 games, or lose 1 and draw 2, it just gave us a buffer and it's been shown that a buffer is a good thing to have!

Hope this can help hone focus to get us over the line!
