I have serious issues with the winners of any play-off final being rewarded with a trophy. Really? A trophy for being potentially the sixth-best team in the league when the second-best team get diddly-squat. Isn't the day out at Wembley enough? Just win the match, celebrate, then go home. It should be handled in the same way as an FA Cup semi-final - a big day out at Wembley, but no trophy presentation at the end of it. Trophies should only be awarded to champions.
Anyone agree?

PLAY-OFF FINAL

Ive being banging (easy tiger) on about this for years peacock, especially as the team that finishes second only gets the reward of PL football, so why and your right a team who say finishes 6th gets the big day out and lift a token trophy yet look likd they won the league.
Good point Peacock.

Everyone knows the team that goes up through the playoffs are at a big disadvantage in terms of preparation for the Premier League. Yes Swansea have done well this season, but that is because they play football like Barcelona . Look at Blackpool, tremendous achievement to win promotion, then relegated in unfortunate circumstances. At least the trophy is a nice reminder .

totally agree, i never understood why a trophy was given to a team for winning the play offs.
the prize is the premiership.
not a poxy little trophy

And I've always said the top three should go up auto!..
Its just a money grabbing con to fatten up the Leagues money pig !..
Get rid of it and let the team that has earned the right over a full season have their rightful place!.

It does make the league more exciting though. It could potentially be over by March/April if it was top 3.

I'd think the top 3 places with everyone in the hat would be more to fight for then the top 6!..
Its like the Champions league, teams go in the hat that wasn't champions!..
So why is it called the Champions league and if a team that wasn't champions won it are they really champions?..
Just my thoughts but a way Football is just finding ways of ripping a bit more out of the fans and being unfair to the teams that have really earned the right but lose out because their place is scrapped over by teams that finished behind them!..
"It could potentially be over by March/April if it was top 3."
If it was top 3 then all clubs would know the top 3 is where they have to be, and that means teams thinking they only have to make the top 6 will have a lot more to fight about, so I'd say the clubs around the top end towards the end of the season would give that bit more!..
The same as now, when teams cant make the top 6 then the fight is over, is that any different to the top 3, its the same but for the extra games and money the League are after, and more for the already hard hit fans to fork out!..
Why give it to a team that have finished 4th, 5th or 6th when the 3rd team have already earned the right, but then they have to prove themselves again, so I'd think if they do it twice then they are the true champions of whatever league they are in!..

i don't agree with play offs, a team comes 3rd in the league on merit & has to play a further 3 games to get promoted SHOCKING !!!!!
