Transfers (or lack of them)

was just thinking the same this morning. its worrying that were not been linked to anyone while sunderland are buying players for fun! where is the money that we were promised?

i wouldn't fancy keane anyway. i think his best years are behind him and he'd be demanding a crazy 'west ham type' salary to even consider moving

on the positive note, the Samba deal has gone quiet. maybe he will stay after all

anybody seen or heard anything about the new strip for the 2011/12 season? thats been slow in coming too

It has gone quiet, but I can't see us not signing anyone, it goes against everything Kean has said and Venky's want. The squad as it stands has to be an outside bet for relegation considering last year's performance and our complete lack of goals in the team. No matter how deluded Venky's are the facts from last year are pretty undeniable and if they want the club to immediately jump to 4th-5th in the league they know that at least one prominent signing needs to come in as well as any of Jerome Anderson's direct family.

I'd rather we blew a bit of money of Cisse than got Keane, Cisse's scoring record is impressive especially when you consider he is playing for Freiburg in a strong division. I agree Keane does seem past it, the salary will be high, plus I don't think he'll be interested.

If Samba stays that would be fantastic, but who knows what the situation with that is at the moment.

I've been waiting for ages for news on the new kit as well, thought it was supposed to be getting released about nowish as this is when our contract with Crown runs out or something. Really hoping for a nice piece, Umbro can make a good shirt.

so after 10 days in the sun I return home eager to read about all of our transfer activity, only to find that we appear to be in hibernation mode.

I really do find this surprising and could not have predicted that Venkys are just full of BS.

I have an extremely boring approach to transfers in that I tend to ignore every single rumour as at least 95% of them are bull****. As a general overview though it is slightly worrying that we're now halfway through the close season and haven't signed anyone. However transfer activity does tend to speed up the closer it gets to the first game and hopefully the slow progress is just a sign that we aren't panic-buying/accepting being ripped off, plus keeping Samba so far has gotta be a plus.

As the transfer window closes thats when the buying/accepting being ripped off starts, not now.

What about Owen Hargreaves on a pay as you play deal?

Just seen that he's posting daily fitness video's on his Twitter page.

Worth a punt if we only pay when he plays.
