The defence

Perhaps the most remarkable achievement over recent weeks has been the transformation of what was the worst defence in the division. Does anyone realise that the last team to score against from open play was Leeds (Brighton and Reading headers from free kicks and Bristol City with a penalty). Considering some of the strike forces we've had to play against in recent weeks that statistic is incredible no goals against from open play in seven matches.

The media want the stories and the television companies want the stories and the papers want the story and means that it is everyday.

I was just thinking that - as our goals are starting to dry up again, our defence has seen us across the line this season, and I think the last game we conceded more than one goal was the Leeds game.

Dare I say, then manager seems to know what he's doing?

the only defenders currently under contract for next season are gunter, moloney and lascelles.
