Guess what we all knew already but Givet has released a statement saying he did not refuse to play. More spin from Kean and the media it seems...

Givet hits back

Yeap looks like it, that's Givet never playing for us again then it's not like we need him

These guys live and breathe football; they get something out of going to the training ground every day.

Don't know what you are getting at but Givet is one of our most committed players and also a fan fav. When we only have 3CB's inc Givet in a relegation fight we need him and the fact Kean has lied saying he refused to play says it all about the situation at the club, and the frustration we as fans feel.

Yeah, who needs CB's hey. I mean we didn't need Nelsen or Samba and Giver, pfft, we can get by with 1 fit CB for the rest of the season.

Also, nice to hear Givet say he will stay even if we get relegated!
He will be gone if Kean stays in charge though.

Yeah much better to sell they was on 60K a week each that's saving us money it's not like we are going up lose 48 million is it

Yeah i was pleased with that we will need players like him if we are going to bounce straight back up but Kean will still be manager next season so that's Givet going

Not only is Kean manager, Givet is probably on a decent wage. Meaning Venkys will want him out as well.

The guy has 13 caps for France, I'd say he is definitely our best CB so why is Kean refusing to play him whilst we are battling relegation?

I was musing last night about how good our centre halves have been over recent times. We have had Samba and Nelsen as a partnership since Hughes, surviving Hughes, Ince and Allardyce. Throw into the mix Givet who couldn't dislodge either centrally but became our left back but capable of filling in for the increasingly injury prone Nelsen as well as Ooijer and
Jones and it shows how lucky we have been.
Givet hasn't really found a permanent home in our backline as he fills in LB or CB and you can tell he isn't part of Kean's plans. He fits in with the Venky's business model of getting rid of experienced professionals and there is likely a 15 year old who we can promote from the youth team.
He has been a great servant for Rovers and is a real committeed professional. His French caps, previous time at Marseille and general sense of respect for his playing abilities (shame on the drunk driving charges) from Rovers fans speak louder than Kean's lies.

The guy has a Champions League runners up medal from his time at Monaco.

News of this kind is so dispiriting. I thought that we would put up a good fight til the end of the season. Now we're going down in a web of deceit. I've had more than enough of this management.

Its stuff like this that really gives credence to the asset stripping conspiracy.
How on earth is it in Rovers interest for Givet not to be playing?
I know times were tough in the Seventies/Eighties but at least there was little expectation in those days and no solid foundation to start from.
This season has been by far the worst for Rovers over the last 40 years IMO if only because we had a decent squad/manager/chairman less than two years ago.
Quite simply now we don't.
Disgraceful how the Venky's and Kean have gone/ been allowed to go about their business.
