Despite being a rather disappointing season...we still have to pick a player of the season...
So who would you pick and why?
my choice....
Nigel Reo Coker
Not the best player technically, and often slows down the play..
However, in the midst of below average performances, NRC has led by example and has been fairly consistently good all season. Marshalling the midfield and often giving match winning performances, he has for the most-part protected the defence well and also driven us forward in games.
Hes become our leader on and off the pitch, naturally.
Who does everyone else think has been our POTY?
Young player....has to go to Adam Bogdan...no reasons need to be given here really, forced himself into the no.1 spot removing Jussi who has been no.1 himself for well over a decade.
Goal of the season, my choice is Reo Coker against Blackburn in December. Bolton begin a counter attack, NRC breaks through, passes it wide to Petrov who crosses it low into the area, NRC spins and controls and then places in the corner, with some luck i might add. Very important goal in the turn around of our season.

33 minutes in for the Highlights as they get good!
What are everyone elses?
Player/Young/Goal of the Season

i think the player who has consistantly performed has been david wheater. Been solid and made no mistakes since he has come in. Imo definitely has the potential to be better than cahill. No other player has been as consistant.
Mark Davies has had the best performances against liverpool, united and a few others but has been absent in a lot of games.
Ricketts has been a massive boost since he came back and steinson has had both good and bad games.
NRC would be my second choice, and it would be Petrov if he played like he has recently all season.
Has to be Wheater for me. He can also smash ice with his head.

and goal would either be ricketts v wolves, cahill v QPR, Davies v wolves or Eagle's second v stoke, the chip.
No beauties like last season, unfortunately.

I would have to say Mark Davies. Although, HH will disagree because his stats are poor.
He is the only player with a bit of composure. Fantastic technique, dowwn't often give the ball away and looks a threat when he has it around the opposition box. This season is certainly something for him to build on.
Young player is Bogdan. Not sure who else can compete.
Goal of the season. NRC against Liverpool. Run close by his against Blackburn, but the goal vs Liverpool wasn't particularly lucky! Shouts for Mavies vs Wigan and Eagles vs Stoke.

My reason for dissatisfaction towards Davies is because he doesn't try a forwards pass, to try an create something himself. He's composed, good passer, good dribbler, but he needs to utilise that properly. The stats just help to show his lack of ability to threat a killer ball etc, he is capable of it, but he just never does. I do think he's good, but he needs to add that facet to his game, or atleast attempt it, otherwise he will just be Danny Guthrie.
I feel he's too scared to take a risk and give the ball away himself. I'd rather his passing rate was 81% rather than 87% if it meant he tried a through ball etc here and there

I think Mavies is being played in the wrong position, more than likely as we have limited numbers in the middle. If player numbers weren't an issue Mavies would be best playing a floating role between midfield and striker.
HH is right. Mavies can't hit the killer ball to put someone else through, but is very good at putting himself through. I've specifically watched Mavies in the last 2 games and he's playing too deep. He needs to be advanced to create something.
My best player of the season is also NRC. The guy is a born leader, but it worries me that he's appeared quieter in the last couple of games. Does the return of SKD have anything to do with that?
Best young player has to be Boggers! Anyone that can make Phil Thompson look more stupid than he is has to get an award!
Best goal of the season is Ricketts vs Wolves

Bogdan for me.... no contest.
he has single-handedly prevented our goal-difference going in to triple figures at times...
Have a beer and goulash party on us young man!
he has proven he can cut it with the best for me...

Mark Davies player of the season for me, I suppose he's young enough to get the young player gong too, but if we have to pick someone else I'd go for Bogdan
Goal of the season, Cahill v QPR

Agree with pretty much everyone else - Bogdan has been fantastic.
If we had as much luck with scouting out outfield players as we have done with GK's...
