almost did it.
There is a reason why so many managers, footballers and analysts revel when he and Arsenal fail. Of course the wums will claim it is because he complains etc. but so do so many other managers.
He went out to prove that developing youngsters, being within budget and playing attractive football can be successful model. This was completely contrary to modern day football where you had to spend a lot of money, buy established footballers at the expense of youngsters and play direct football to win trophies. And that is the only thing most footballers, managers and analysts know. Obviously one who challenges pre-ordained norms is disliked and everyone wants him to fail.
And make no mistake, he almost succeeded.
If the team hadn't lost focus on just a few key games, Arsenal would have been kings of the world. And everyone would be rushing to ape the model.
And all would have come out of the woodwork saying that they knew this would be future blueprint all along. Now you have everyone coming out of the woodwork (latest one being Scholes) saying that this model is no good.
Sad but he almost changed the football world. but couldn't.
Wenger went out to change the world and

Im just saying that arsenal are perpetuating a failed experiment and the only reason wengers there now is sentiment and fear of the future.Wenger cant solve the problem because he is the problem!Players leaving and the clubs position in Nov will force the board to make the right decision.

Reasonable till you look at the last six years and players rushing to leave the club then wengers seen for what he is a false prophet

Not much of an argument and not relevant to the OP's point. Guess it gives you a chance to be unjustifiably smug, though. Congrats.
Great article, OP.

no, they're not.
and the only reason wengers there now is sentiment and fear of the future.

well that and the fact he is the manager of the decade, and is one of the top 5 or so managers in the world.
Wenger cant solve the problem because he is the problem!

clearly everything that ever happens at arsenal is wenger's fault. no-one else there has any responsibility whatsoever.
Players leaving and the clubs position in Nov will force the board to make the right decision.

Subjective opinion and wonderfully delusional.

Good article, the team didn't really need to spend stupidly, the team just needed a balance, especially of hard heads!!!
It's a shame because everyone now thinks that to run a football club like the housing market or how the banks ran our economy is acceptable. But it's not! and somehow and sometime it's all going to fall like a pack of cards.
It's unsustainable and the people that will suffer will be us, the fans!!! We will be asked to spend more and more.

Unfortunately, and it's sad it's got this way, it's looking increasingly obvious that for teams to have ANY genuine chance of competing at the very top in England, they will need a Sugardaddy type figure bankrolling them!
I'd LOVE to be proved wrong on this, but I can't see it any other way!

Arsenal only needed a couple of experienced players (defenders?) last season and it COULD have been a different story.
I admit a sugardaddy is a massive help but Arsenal were close to having a successful season without one.

I agree with you, but for whatever reason it was not acted upon and now I fear us and clubs like us are on the verge of not being able to compete.

As far as winning the League goes maybe.
A domestic Cup or the Europa League ( ) should be attainable.
