Good evening villans! First post on JA606 so bear with me.
Villa have been my local team since I was 16(9 years) and Most of my mates are villa fans, therefore I have always enjoyed going to a number of games with them each season.Went to villa park for the first time for a year on saturday and there was one thing that really stood out.
The atmosphere !
I was sitting in the holte lower (L3) which has generally been a decent atmosphere when I have been there in the past.On saturday I heard a number of fans scream to the players terrible abuse.albrigthon, ireland,n zogbia, gabby, herd, hutton, cuellar all coped it good and proper.
Then there was f off martin! f off mcliesh!
All of this cant be great for the players when playing at Villa Park.I understand that we have been extremley poor this season and as a fan we pay our hard earned cash to watch the shower but some of it is just not needed especially to the younger lads.
Thoughts On the atmosphere at VP recently?
Abuse at players

Your post in my opinion has just explained our home record this season!
Total lack of confidence and the fear factor the atmosphere places on the team.
The appointment of the Manager divided everyone and the place has not been the same since!
Really not ideal, I have nothing against Alex Mcleish and i think given time he would do ok, It would not suprise me if he is replaced at the end of the season after he has cleared the decks of the high earners!
I really hope everyone just gets behind the team for the vital run in of games!

Fans do have a right to express themselves, especially if they have paid to watch a game.
That said, I dont think it does any good to abuse the players. They are trying but are lacking direction and leadership. As you say, the younger ones really need confidence and to be steared. This is the fault of the manager, I have no issues with anyone voicing their opinion to him, or to MON for that matter.

Please remember that the overwhelming majority of fans love the club and are utterly frustrated and angry with the destruction of all they hold dear. It's not just about Mcleish of a particular player, fans are screaming because they see the whole club going down the clapper.
If the fans don't make their voices heard, is more rubbish served up with impunity. If fans had protested more, in tens of thousands, we wouldn't be in this mess. So I say, let the fans voices be heard more, not less. But it don't inspire the players, so it's a tricky balance getting opinions across, but not at the detriment of the team. Hmmmmm
I guess the unideal compromise is to organise protests/club discussions away from the actual 90mins, and get behind the team in the game. But if that ain't possible, if the board and mgt ain't listening or don't want to listen, I can't blame any fan for taking route one.
