I am really looking forward to the upcoming series. Some of the best in the world will be on display. I am hoping that the weather stays away.
Now let’s get the banter started
I would like to ask the English fans a question; will England field their best 11?
I ask, because I do not want to hear any excuses after you loose.
England vs India

"We will win.
Indian batsmen are home town bullies"
Looking at some of the Indian batsmen's averages you would think they lived in England all their lives.

no, indina batsman's (and sri lankan) averages suggest that they play on the subcontinant for the majority of the time, however it has to be said that the indian batsmen have applied themselves well in alien conditions.
perhaps it would be worthwhile building a test ground in shimla. the altitude would cause higher bounce, and the lower temperatures would acclimatise the indian players to english, south african and australian conditions.
what do you think?

Jezzer,
Look at their overall average, then look at their average in England.
My only concern is Harbhajan Singh. His dowhill slide isn't coming to a stop. He is bowling flat on leg stump line. I hope he gets injured so we can play an actuall spinner.

My 'hometown bully' comment was in jest.
Tendulkar and Dravid have excellent away averages.

sehwag, gambhir, sachin, dravid will not allow eng to win by piling on runs
laxman will not allow india to lose with an abnormal innings in a crisis
that leaves only a draw or eng on losing side
what are the chances between the two.

Gingerfinch,
I know mate. I just failed to think of a funny reply.
I was replying to the following quote taken from Jezzer's comment:
"indina batsman's (and sri lankan) averages suggest that they play on the subcontinant for the majority of the time"

and yet you skipped over the point where i said that indian batsman have applied themselves well abroad.
anyway, in the first place i was responding to a comment insinuating that it is easy to bat in england, which it most certainly is not, at least not any easier than anywhere else.

India are shiny.
Sometimes i just wish it was only India playing cricket & then their fans would shut up.

U2836,
I am honored that a very knowledgeable poster such as yourself took the time to comment.

Agreed. It is not easy to bat in England, but people forget that it is almost impossible to bat in the 3rd and 4th innings on the sub continental tracks. This is reason why a lot of sub continental batsmen have a massive difference between their 1st innings average and their 2nd innings average.
If batting is easy in the subcontinent, why is it that most foreign batsmen can't fill their boots on tours?
