Have we jumped forward in time???

Because the way some people are panicking, you'd think it was nearly September...

As a fan who has criticised Wenger quite a bit the last couple of months, even i'm not silly enough to believe that he isn't doing everything he can to bring quality players to the club...

After the close season we've had, i'm positive he has finally seen sense and will bring in the calibre of players we need. Clichy has just left, Nasri most probably will go too, Cesc, who knows?

Wenger has a plan, and he hasn't exactly got a bottomless pit of money to fund transfers, if he has to go up against the likes of Man City and Chelsea for players, and a bidding war ensues, it's going to end badly, the reality is they have lots more money to spend.

I'm sure he has several targets in mind, i think what he means when he says it will be the end of July, is that he's waiting to see what the other clubs will do, a high risk strategy in some ways, he's not going to become a mad spender all of a sudden, he has his ethos and i'm sure he will stick to it, a bit at least. Having said that i do genuinely believe he's realised that he must break his principals in order to bring the right players in.

I could be totally wrong though, in which case fair enough, but i mean come on, it's the 5th of July, there's almost two months left to buy and sell players, and get the team ready...

True, no manager just allows their best players to leave and not be replaced. I see a few good deals being pushed through by Wenger and only 1 of Nasri/Fabregas will leave...I see it being Nasri

Nah, Arsenal was always the busiest on 606 - by a country mile.

People like to come and wind us up, and we welcome them. Collectively, we have a good sense of humour.

Some might say this is fortunate given the woe that is befalling us at every turn.

Me? I just say

Its also because our board is right at the top of the list and most Man Utd and Liverpool fans cant really read that well so just click on the first thing they see.

I've actually been quite entertained by the media doom mongers this close season as for once they've actually got a little bit of material to work with.

Every pre-season we're told how Arsenal will be fighting off mid table teams in order to hang onto a CL spot but every season we manage to put up a better fight than expected and the naysayers chew on their words until we're no longer in contention and they emerge once more to enlighten us with their well rehearsed "you'll win nothing with kids" line. This close season has brought them to our doorstep in their droves...

We were in pretty good shape last season and I'm in agreement with just about every lunchtime pundit that the CC final defeat proved to be the cancer that quickly devoured the remainder of our season which left us clutching onto a relatively speaking, lowly fourth place. This has given the tabloid world all the nourishment they need to see themselves though these baron weeks as mindless hyperbole ensues delighting and distressing football fans hungry for news. But let's face it, this isn't news.

Clichy departing - that's news. It's signed, sealed and delivered. Frankly I was expecting more of a reaction from our corner but from what I have seen and heard it appears that we've been flattering his ability for the past few seasons and upon many Gooner I sense a small sigh of relief. Good luck to him, I guess.

Everything else is pure speculation and gossip forcing fractious reaction from home support and worthless comments from unrelated parties. It's a process of building news stories on manufactured emotion and I for one will not abide to their nonsense.

With regards to incoming transfers, when has AW ever been upfront and honest in his transfer targets? He's always declared that as soon as he mentions a name the price escalates, therefore he's doing the right thing by keeping tight lipped. I'm a fan of the 'transfer smokescreen'. The mere mention of an unheard of player sends the wheeler dealer running in the wrong direction...

There's still plenty of time to conduct business and for once I too am convinced that there will be some considerable additions made to the squad.
