How come The Oval is deemed fit enough to stage an All-Ireland Final, yet unsuitable for an Irish Cup Final ? Surely if Derry City can play their first major Cup Final in Belfast since 1971 here, other Irish League clubs can now look forward to playing Linfield in a Cup Final where they don't have home advantage ?

Probably nothing to do with their supporters wrecking Windsor Park on their last visit, although it was wonderfully hushed up in comparison to the events at the Brandywell which were well documented.
Just hope you allow their supporters to see the kick off.
No reason why irish cup finals cannot be played at the oval. Most Linfield supporters would prefer that as we tend to win there on most occasions.
Passport ready for when the change is made.

My Guess would be The Irish Cup is an IFA run Tournament and the IFA already have a contract with Linfield to use it as a national Stadium. So why would the pay the Glens at an extra cost when they can use Windsor in an already existing agreement.

thats due to the fact yous have a tainted support and sections tend to cause trouble a lot - vermin.
As for City fans, there track record is exemplary, barring this. Linfield seem to bring out the worst in everyone.

Your right. All right thinking supporters would surely agree. Sporting ethics would deem it fair to hold finals at neutral venues or in cases where it's not possible, at least a coin toss to decide on either participants venue. Just seems strange that the Crues are forced to go Windsor next Saturday yet the IFA and FAI ok The Oval the following Saturday when a similar sized crowd will probably turn out. There is just as good bar and corporate catering facilities at The Oval as there is at Windsor so I don't see what the issue is. A huge Cliftonville crowd turned up for the CAS Final and it went off without a hitch as do Boxing Day games between the Big Two. What's the difference ? And as far as I know GAWA the IFA still have to pay Linfield for the use of the stadium for a Cup Final anyway as they would any ground like Mourneview or Ballymena where other finals have been held of late.
On a side note, you looking forward to 4 in a row tomorrow Earl ? Imagine the Blues getting booed by their supporters as they lift the trophy

PEOPLES CLUB:
Good point! I do NOT think the final should be held at Windsor if Linfield are in it. No side should be granted "home advantage" in a cup final. Surely thats obvious! The Oval is perfectly adequate and an obvious choice. I remember as a toddler being carried by my grandfather to watch Irish Cup Finals at the Oval. Many Irish Cup Finals have been held there over the years. The Oval has an natural symetery and when it is full looks quite impressive and is more atmospheric than even Windsor. In fact, I often think it would be a good site for the proposed National Soccer Stadium, if they foolishly decide not to stick with South Belfast.

"As for (Derry) City fans, their track record is exemplary" >>>>>>>>>> Com on Danny Boy! Its too late for "Childrens' Hour" and the mid evening comedies are not due to start until 9 o'clock! Nobody's believing that ould guff any more! Derry stopped being a "friendly, welcoming" city round about 1970! Just ask anyone from Letterkenny. The Candy Strippers supporters are well known North and South of the border for being a violent, unfriendly lot!

absolute nonsense - firstly, i am actually from Donegal - "Derry stopped being a "friendly, welcoming" city round about 1970" - not sure what this has got to do with the fans of the football club.
other than your word, any evidence of troublesome derry fans would be appreciated.???

Nah. Look it up for yourself. Its easy to find. Time you assumed some personal responsibility for your own learning instead of just leaning your neck back for some more EXREP brainwashing to be shovelled down. You may actually start finding out the real truth about the "City of Commissars" and their programme of Ethnic Cleansing!
