If RDM won the Champions League...

...would he be better off walking away at the end of the season?

We have no idea what's going to happen in the summer but lets say he achieves what was nothing more than a pipe dream a few weeks ago, wins the competition and is offered the managers job.

Should he take it?

Obviously it would be deserved but would it be the right thing for himself and the club?

As much as I like RDM, and as much as he has an important place in the history of the club, I think he'd find it very difficult to make this sort of impact next season. I might be being incredibly naive but I believe that a large chunk of this turn around, especially in the CL, has been down solely to the players.

I believe that the league provides us with a better indication of how we'd fair under an RDM stewardship. Sure we've only lost one game, but we've hardly set the heather alight. We've not capitalised when our rivals have dropped points and we haven't won games that we should have; against a shocking Tottenham Hotspur and a tired Arsenal.

I aware that this seems like a defeatist post considering where we are but I'm worried that too many fans are getting wrapped up in this love story and aren't seeing the bigger picture.
