First thing is first, why does Redknapp have to share everything with the media?
----------------------------------------
Gareth Bale is preparing to leave Tottenham in the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, while manager Harry Redknapp admits Luka Modric could also be on his way.
The winger, valued at £50million, has put Europe’s biggest clubs on alert by warning Spurs he will consider his future if they fail to clinch a return to the elite competition.
Bale, contract at Tottenham runs until 2015, said: ‘I think everybody always wants to test themselves against the best players in the world. We have to wait and see what happens.
'Obviously if we don’t [qualify for the Champions League], we’ll have to sit down and discuss it. I had a taste of it last season and I enjoyed it thoroughly.’
Harry Redknapp’s side, who will go above Newcastle into fourth place if they beat Blackburn on Sunday at White Hart Lane, have won only one of their past nine Premier League games, slipping from title challengers to fifth.
And speaking before the game against the relegation-battlers, Redknapp revealed there are concerns that his other key man, Modric, although he was bullish over the future of Bale.
'Last summer it was vital that we kept hold of Luka,' Redknapp said. 'I don't think we will have to do it with people like Gareth Bale this summer. Luka, it's different with him. I don't know what he would do.
'I would be lying if I said I was sure that he would stay. You don't know. But certainly I wouldn't see Gareth Bale wanting to leave here.
'At the moment he is happy here, a big fish here. He is still learning the game, a young boy, and this is where he needs to be. You would like to think Luka would still be here, but you never know.'
Modric almost joined Chelsea last summer, and spent much of the transfer window attempting for force through a move. Manchester United have also taken a close look at the Croatian, who joined Tottenham from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 for £16.5m.
Even if Spurs finish fourth, they could be denied the Champions League place if Chelsea win next month’s final against Bayern Munich in the German club’s own Allianz Arena.
The ruling has angered Redknapp, who added: 'The fact that we have a team outside the top four in the Champions League final shows just how strong our league
'Whoever wins the Champions League should automatically qualify for the following season as an addition, not as an alternative to their country’s own league. It will be unfair on whoever ends up fourth if Chelsea beat Bayern.
'There’s no reason why a league as strong as ours shouldn’t have five teams in the tournament if one are defending champions. We’ve just got to win all of our games to finish third and make sure of our spot.'
Redknapp says Modric is off.

No club would be stupid enough to take him at this stage.

I believe Fergie rates Modric a lot. I'm sure he will put in an offer. Once United makes an offer , you know what happen next.

Hasn't he always talked about going to a big European club?
Plus he moved from Southampton, so why surprised that he may move from Spurs?

By telling the world Modric is off decreases his value.
You'd be lucky to get £25m now.
--------------------------------------------------------
25m is the fair value for Modric, he is not worth more than that ,even if my own club were stupid enough to try and get him for 40m

Rentaquote Redknapp should keep his gob shut, I reckon if it wasnt for impending compensation from the FA Levy may have done something about his disruptive media blabberings by now.

Did anyone actually listen to the interview? Garth was on a mission to lead questions and Bale just answered. Credit where credit is due Bale is only human in this modern football age, at least he showed respect to the club. Mods was almost gone last season acording to the papers and he is still here. It's up to the players and the manager to secure CL footy & I think they know that than the fans at the moment...
get behind the club you support....;.
