kagawa - quality player and shirt seller

i'll prob be slated for this article and no one likes to admit it but with 127 million people in japan, the money kagawa could bring im from merchandise could be very helpful indeed, just like park did

these days football clubs are seen as a brand and a commodity, and we need every penny to thrive and survive, look whats happening to rangers, portsmouth etc

p.s kagawa looks a very good player and obviously talent comes first although a healthy merchandise sale is an added bonus

I think we need a big name Asian player all the time. Kagawa's nationality probably makes this transfer a goer.

If we sign Kagawa, it's highly unlikely that we'll sign any other players in the mould of Hazard or Muniain.

I don't want Hazard because he has a big ego at such a young age and Hazard isn't that good in the middle where as Kagawa is. Kagawa is an amazing dribbler too.

I want

Clyne - Back up for RB and LB
Kagawa - Replacement for Park (been a great servant but his time is up)
Javi Martinez - A player we need and will improve our Midfield

Maybe a Striker but that is unlikely

I was in Japan a few months ago and Kagawa is everywhere, he is such a huge brand over there, posters and Dortmund tops all over the place.

But more importantly he is a great player who can create through the middle which is something we are missing at the moment.

Kagawa at United would make a ridiculous amount of money from Asia.

I haven't seen that much of him but from what i have he looks like a good player, the shirt sales should be an added bonus for signing a player the main reason for buying him in my opinion, there was a time when Park was a good squad player for us, but he seems shot now though.

He is a good player, merchandise or not.

Is it just a rumour we are after him?

Well it's a fact that he's refused to sign a contract, with the Dortmund director stating he's got his heart set on England. He's also a United fan.

So if we are after him, it's likely to be nearly a done deal.

There were also rumours of an offer from United about 3 days before the Dortmund director stated this.

It does sound like a deal that would make a lot of sense for both parties. I'd be glad to see us take note of other clubs buying from Germany, you can get some bargains.

A Dortmund director has today confirmed the following

"I spoke to Shinji and his advisor last week and he is not willing to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund. We won't gamble, but he has a specific career plan and he plans to play in England. We have to accept that, even if we don't find it good.
While there is no economic need to sell him, he has a certain market value so we have to follow this with an economic sense. We will continue to have dialogue, but if another club expresses an interest then we will listen."

This signing would tick all the boxes for me

Young, creative midfielder available for a reasonable fee, commercially very valuable and unlikley to ask for extortionate wages.

The reduced fee (compared to the £30m for Hazard and co) could also mean funds would remain for a Martinez type CM and even a striker if required. Would also mean we would avoid being blown out of the water by City and Chelsea for Modric, Hazard or Eriksen.
