FA approach Hodgson

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17888928

I would actually be happy to see him appointed England manager. Mostly because I still believe in Redknapp. The job he's done at Spurs has been outstanding, and it wasn't for a massive dip in form, we would of secured champions league footy by now. I know a lot of you would rather see him leave, apart from his miss-timed substitutions, he's turning us into a potential force in European football.

And i wouldn't want a summer long manager hunt, especially if we don't get into the Champions league with Bale and Modric out. If we get into Europe and Harry stays, and we make the right transfers, we'll be up there again next season.

Martinez will do for me. I'm alot less forgiving than most of you for the bottle jobs of this season and last. Infact I don't think this site properly represents how furious alot of the fans are with Redknapp after the club stood by him through the court case.

I think the fact that we did stick by him through the court case should tell you that he's doing something right. If he wasn't such a good manager do you really think we'd tolerate all of that. No. I think a lot of fans have forgotten what it feels like to finish 11th every season. If he's not given the England job then i hope common sense prevails and he's offered a bumper new deal. He deserves it. Then we can get on with making the progress we have consistently made over the last 3 years. We're not gonna win the league overnight but the important thing is we're heading in the right direction.

If Roy is offered the job then we've just got away it big time. It's the tottenham way to falter after a few seasons and get all trigger happy. We might, just might have an opportunity to bring a little bit of consistency and calm to our club for a bit. Why would you not want that?

Paewl,
Maybe it is the "court case" that has given the FA cold feet regarding his selection as manager?

By the way, I think that Martinez would be a good choice. He has done a great job, he is a "class act" who would represent England very well from the sidelines, and he will probably not be distracted by the courts!

Trouble is we have collapsed two seasons running and i want harry to admit that and give us reasons why, dont just say we have been unlucky

If we dont make top 4 its down to him and the players

Trouble is if Hodson messes the job up they will come back and mess up another season for us

Oh, by the way whoever it was that questioned me saying that most spurs fans want him to stay is clearly wrong. How do you suppose it's possible that the majority of spurs want him out but still happen to sing in a 40,000 man chorus "we want you to stay"? I'd say that was pretty overwhelming proof of my argument don't you think?

Sorry for the late reply I've been watching Vera on the planner.

Fridgeboy I think if we keep Redknapp we are rewarding him for his lack of loyalty. I find it astonishing that he would regard England as a more desirable job than Spurs. I think unless we have a radical change this summer we will go backwards next season. I have no problem with regular managerial changes as long as its done for the right reasons. With the poor standard of the Prem this season we could of challenged for the title. Look at the mismanagement of Pienaar if you want an example.

I think thats a bit of a misguided judgement mate to say its disloyal to want to manage England. Harrys old school and I dont see it as disloyal at all to want what he sees as the top job in football.

What I had a problem with personally was the impression I got that he took his eye off Spurs whilst courting the job. I wouldnt consider it disloyal though unless it was for another club or something.

That was sung with genuine passion at the Newcastle game and I believe was heartfelt from most of the fans.

We did not get any positive response from Harry and have been slapped in the face time and time again since. The rest is history.

Not heard it sung much since that very game which says it all.

I think the England team is there mainly there for the followers of lower divisional teams. For instance I know lots of Oxford fans and they are far more nationalistic than I could ever be. I think its because their teams don't play against the sides that contain England internationals so they don't build up the same prejudices against certain players that Prem supporters do. Plus its an unusual opportunity for them to potentially see football of a decent standard.

I regard the Spurs job as far more prestige but then again I am biased.

"Harrys accountant"

A phrase I live by is :

Once is a coincidence, twice is a crime.

This is the second consecutive season that the form of the team has declined badly from mid Feb onwards.

Whatever the reasons, the questions should be asked (especially, is a pattern forming ?? ) .
