So with tonight's news that we've given the FA the oppertunity to talk with Roy then i guess that means we may well be looking for a new manager in the Summer.
Roy has done very well here. No doubts he has established us into a force in the Premier League and i think our 'yo yo' tag has been lost and ofcourse that's 'in part' down to Roy.
However....
WBA will move on. Roy is not the be all and end all. Like i say no doubts he has done well but all those fans outside of WBA who think that we are where we are solely down to Roy are wrong. For all Roy's positives he has his faults aswell.
Bland football - WBA are/were well known for being a passing team. With past managers like RDM and Mowbray it was always great to watch even if it didn't always work. Roy's style is really less attractive on the eye and at times really quite brutal.
Stubborn - Roy's stubborness when it comes to making substitutions is one thing that really get's on my nerves. It's rare he ever makes the first move to make a change even when it's so badly needed.
Tactics - His constant playing of a 442 even though our players don't suit that formation and it's not working and getting results.
(This is not me saying Roy is a bad manger btw)
We've slowly built up (with all the ups and downs) to get where we are now. We've got a great squad, the best finances in the league, one of the best youth academies and scouting networks in the Country and most importantly a chairman and technical director that will see us continue to grow.
We will be an attractive club to managers. Great chance of finishing top half, no money worries and in general have a great rep.
So who should replace Roy 'should' he go?
I've seen lots of names mentioned already. Poyet, Lambert, Rodgers, Martinez, Allardyce, RDM, Curbishey, Hughton etc etc
My personal choice : Chris Hughton. He was excellent at Newcastle getting them back up to the PL with record points total and was doing well at Newcastle in the PL when he was shockingly sacked. He has since moved to Blues and has done an incredible job there in poor standards. The club is in a state financially and some big names have left Blues (now at us funnily enough) but he has still got them a play off spot (with a small squad) and ofcourse gave them a great Europa run. I know a lot of Blue noses aswell and they say Blues are playing some of the best football they've seen there in years which is also another positive.
So for me.... Hughton. Although i wouldn't be disapointed with Martinez or Curbishley
Cheers Roy - Who next?

Surley Mcleish or Mick Mcarthy would be a better shout.
Can every one please shut the fook up about taking CH. weve heard all this from Vile and wolves fans and now the baggies are joining in the hunt.
There are loads of managers out there not working so please leave us alone and look elswhere. We got loads to contaend with as it is without adding to it.
I wish the Baggies well (unlike vile and the deluded ww fans) but without CH. KRO

Sorry Sharky it's not a personal attack on Blues but it's a dog eat dog sport. You offering up names such as Mcleish and McCarhty only makes my feeling towards getting Hughton in even stronger.
Luckily we have a chairman and technical director that will prevent us from ever seeing the likes of MM and AM here. Our technical director will of known of the chance of Hodgson joining England months ago and would have drawn up a short list and been scouting for potential replacements for a while now. That's how the club is run. We're in good hands and should Roy get the job in the next few hours.... i'm sure we ourselves will act quickly
CYStrongest Cell Bar - great comments mate cheers Like i said i've nothing at all against Blues (got family Bluenose) it's purely down to how well he's done with you.
Bet Fair odds this morning make Hughton favourite with Martinez in second. I wouldn't be unhappy with either to be honest.

harry rednapp has done well with spurs..
same can be said in relation to money spent and finances available with roy at wba..
england manager cant look round the world for players and he cant "buy" success..
england boss has to pick the right squad..pick the right team from that squad for a particular match and get the best he can from the players involved..
having a "finite" number of players to choose from without being able to "bolster" your squad or bring in the "big player" every summer or in the "transfer windows" would be as hard for harry as for roy, but at least roy already has experience of "making do" and competing well with what he has got..
I have no problem at all with him getting the job.. The talk of him getting "terry and ferdinand" together in peace talks is worrying...drop them both, they are both on the other side of the hill, they both have too much to say and too much influence and not enough in their "legs" anymore to warrant it..
