So, with no Euro games next season, do you think you'll be able to target the type of player you covet
-----
absolutely, Liverpool are still one of the most famous clubs in the land. Luis Suarez had no hesitations.

and will you be able to fend off the bigger, richer teams who are in Europe when they make offers for your better players?
---------

Other than Torres, I can't think of another case. Alonso was driven out over our pursuit of Barry.

Pepe Reina is highly coveted but he is in the Echo saying he wants to stay.

I predict top 3 next season for Liverpool.

What about your lot? Will you be able to keep hold of Baines? Will other players look at Efc and see a bright future? Will Moyes get fed up of waiting?

No. Just no. Alonso wasn't driven out. He wanted to leave the season before he left. So we tryed to sign Barry to replace him. But we couldn't get Barry. So Alonso stayed for another season to help us out as he loves the club.

Alonso wanted to leave for Madrid. We didn't "force him out."

That sounds more sensible

Thats the first time I've read anything like that, about Xabi staying. I've always suspected that it was because of Rafa's bad man-management. JimmyTheRed

Then I guess you'll have to clear that with Xabi himself...
