I've had a brainwave, let's get our money..

On city.

Okay first off I know I'm probably sounding really crazy right now. But recently all my bets seem to be going wrong.

City are 1.57 on to beat Newcastle so for every pound you'll be getting 57p back. I know it probably sounds crazy to want to bet on city to win the game but it's genuinely a win/win situation except I'm sure the thought of winning money at the expense of city winning sounds quite sickening. But if they're going to win, why not profit from it.

And of course, if our bets were to jinx it, and city do the unthinkable and not beat Newcastle then bam we're back in the driving seat. I think I'm prepared to lose £100 if it means city doesn't win the game. And if they do win at least I'll get £57 winnings back which I guess would be some sort of consolation and compensation for us losing the title.

Anyone else with me on this? Or do you all think I'm just a raving lunatic. Surely it's worth a tenner to all united fans?

its a pretty standard sportsman's bet that. Against your own team...you can't lose either way.

True, if Newcastle beat Chelsea the odds of city beating them will go up.

What if City and you both lose?

You lose your money and are no better off

It's a risk worth taking!

I backed city at 16/1 after they lost to Arsenal. £1700.00 coming my way if city do it but I'd rather lose.
I do an insurance bet quite often to soften the blow of United losing out. In 95 I had a double on blackburn to win the league and Everton to win the cup. I won £2000 that day but have lost hundreds on other bets where United have won titles and cups, so overall I'm well down, but United have a load of trophies!

Actually, that all sounds a bit desperate. Willing to lose money to see your team win? You'd be better off spending money on merchandise, they might be able to afford to buy another player

Someone suggested I start doing that, but I'm a rubbish gambler. One night I was at the dogs at Belle Vue, I'd picked a dog, it won, but I didn't even win enough to cover my stake! Stupid tote system. So if I bet on United to win, they'd end up winning and I'd not be able to find the betting slip...

Whoever wins, you're happy!

But, whoever wins, you're sad.
