Been given a free transfer by Reading. Would you have him back if we could afford him?

Wouldn't exactly welcome him back with open arms, but we have missed someone who will actually pick the ball up and have a go accurately from the edge of the box (this is going by the time he was with us, no idea what he's like now). So yes.

I'd give him a go at least, but to be honest he hasn't done anything since he left us, which was three years ago.

I bet you would give him a go Brighton. Can we stick to footballing matters though.
I say def not. Adam clayton just been released by dirty Leeds. Ideal replacement

I'd personally have him back would imagine his wages wouldn't be massive based on as people says he's done nothing since he left but that could be down to Blackwell not knowing how to use him and Readings midfield is full of quality so he was always gunna struggle to get in there and at minute we haven't got anyone that will put there foot on ball and drive forward I say if the money's right lets av him.

Not a great believer in players 'going back' and I think Howard's time at Oakwell will always prove to be the high point of his career certainly in terms of influence and impact.
I see that Grant McCann and JCR are also looking for new clubs now, again they're also part of the past rather than the future, in my opinion at least!

I agree, Ilkley, this division is getting tougher, certainly from a physical point of view and Howard may not have the necessary desire after making a lot of money in the last 3 years. Going back doesn't tend to work.
Clayton is on the transfer list, not released, because he won't sign another contract and is reputed to be looking for £15k a week! So, highly unlikely.
I'm sure there are plenty of decent players available and they can't all get top wages, some will be grateful to get a contract with us, even if it's only for a paltry 3,4 or 5 thousand pounds per week!!!! Most of our players will not be earning much more than that.
That's speculation of course, but I base it on our projected wage bill and the size of our squad. ( DR said something recently that suggested an annual turnover of £10M! I think wages are limited to about 60%.) COYR.
