1 question

If leeds can't afford to pay Clayton a good deal of say around 8-10 grand, Where are these "great signings" going to come from? descent players to get you out of this league are going to be on more money than that plus fee's to actually buy them, and from what i see we need about 10 of them

Worried....

Exciting it is not. Predictable more like. Expect the excuses to come thick and fast as to why this player left despite being offered "fantastic" terms and why this player wouldn't sign because they were being greedy. Usual bluff and nonsense from the ER loonies, just a different manager peddling it.

The club take a stance of "this is all you're getting, not negotiable", then imply in the media that the agents did that.

In what world does an agent go into a contract negotiation and say "My client wants £15k a week", then just repeat that same thing after every offer? It doesn't happen. Agents specialise in negotiation. The agent doesn't stand to gain much from the players sale since he is still under contract and as such, his wage will suffer from him moving on. Getting the player a better contract at Leeds is the best option for everybody but the club refuse to negotiate properly.

Stevie.
This manager thankfully isn't a yes man, he will walk if Bates doesn't deliver on his promises.

LeedsSouth - Maybe not a yes man to the same degree of others but he has changed his stance markedly in the last few weeks and that tells its own story. From telling Bates publicly that he needed funds for a major rebuilding exercise (and wanting to retain Clayton) we see Clayton on the list (for wanting unreasonable wages.....), the need for only two players to make this team competitive and that its not about money, the ER crowd is the key to the future.

Not quite a yes man but certainly on the way to being a maybe man.

It doesn't look good.

Wait, Warnock has said he only needs 2 players to make the team competitive?

Yes, have a read of his recent comments particularly the one where the Leeds crowd was bought into the equation. He stated there that he only needed two players!!

I'm going to need a link somewhere, I'm no good at finding these things.

So "major surgery" has turned into "we only need 2 players" - this is basically his way of saying "bates will only let me have 2 because our squad is already 22 players in size and 2 is being generous and going over the size we want".

Clayts on twitter says £15k a week is way off the mark

If the 2 players are Messi (68 goals this season ) and Vincent Kompany then we might have a slim chance of the playoffs.

so if £15k is way off the mark, it's a case of bates and his ideal world where he's the only one getting any money because he's the only one that does any work.
