Vinny Jones has signed him. He'll be a good runner for Danny Dyer.......

He's in breach of his contract which means Sheff Utd do not have to pay him, from the moment of his sentence. As he is out of contract in the summer anyway they dont really need to face the issue of sacking him.

PS that is just my thoughts, I don't know if it is right

I believe that he is still registered as their player and that they have not so far officially sacked or even suspended him!! There can be no way they are paying him though surely!!

They should have fired him the minute the sentence was announced but now they will hide behind the "no comment pending appeal" statement. As Brigg said, he is out of contract in the summer anyway and I think they will just quietly let it expire.

Through this whole episode not once have I seen any statement from them condemning what he did and that is poor form on their behalf.

Well it sounds to me that they are awaitng the pending appeal before they issue anything, but like you say, they should have condemed what he did, if it had been any other club they would have fired him straight away as he was found guilty. When Lee Hughes got sent down he was fired straight away by Coventry (I think?). Ok his contracts up but surley Utd dont want to be associated with a convicted <rapist>

Sheffield United are indeed hiding behind the "appeal statement" which could take months. If he fails the appeal, and I think he will, the court can add on all the time pending his appeal to his current sentence. The fact remains that Evans has been found guilty by a jury and sentenced by a judge to 5 years, Sheffield United should have immediately made a strong statement deploring his behaviour and condemning him as an individual for his reckless, unforgiveable actions. They haven't done, and for that they will be remembered as a club that lacks courage, decency and integrity.

They are hoping he will win his appeal and then sell him as a long term prospect !
