He's done better than expected but he's very average, if newcastle can keep their current squad together and their brilliant scouting network can find a left back and other center back then they'll be a force next season.

Well tbh the entire Newcastle team especially the midfield were weak against Wigan.
What I liked is how they handled the pressure in the 2nd half (to take a positive from that game from a NUFC perspective). He also has performed well when Colochini was out injured for a period.

I think this is rather like the case of Scott Dann and Roger Johnson. Earned raved reviews at Birmingham (even though they got relegated) were tipped for top 4 teams and have now flopped at relegation teams AGAIN.

Newcastle, rather than having quality defenders, although I do think Collocini and Simpson are decent, have been defending as one whole unit, playing for each other. Put WIlliamson in another team and he'll be half the player of what O'Shea is.

williamson is our 3rd centre back,

steven taylor is our main centre back along with colo, he is very good, one of the main reasons why we started so well.

He's ok. No Coloccini.

Williamson is an excellent defender, in the sense that he holds his line and reads the game fairly well in general. But he's one of the worst PL footballers of all time. He seems to have a minor heart-attack whenever the ball comes within 5 yards of him. Also for someone that's so tall, he seems to be out-jumped by every player in the league (Moses, N'Zogbia...)

Overall he just about scrapes being okay
