...from another Championship team, who would it be and why?
Given our lack of action in the transfer market I thought I'd give us something to talk about in "fantasy transfer market"
If you could buy one player....

I'm disappointed but I think there's a difference, to be fair wrexham, between having no money and not being willing to pay a player 15 grand a week as well as his transfer fee. That's 60 grand a month, 3/4 of a million quid a year. ....the last thing we need is for wages to start spiralling out of control.
It's a fine line and as much as it oyns me to say it, I think we can probably do better elsewhere.

Patience is not really one of my strengths, will admit that but, we are not even being linked with anyone. Cork has gone to Southampton for 750k, not exactly big money is it.
We are going to get several beatings next season if we don't make signings. Not just by the relegated teams but the promoted teams as well. We seem to be the only team not showing any ambition. If we make some decent signings I will admit to getting it completely wrong, I just don't see it though. The club is very very quiet. No talk of the manager having money to spend like in previous seasons. The only statement coming from the club is that we need to sell before we can buy. Hardly promotion talk is it? I really really hope I am wrong, very badly wrong. It just seems as though the club are trying to hide the fact that the parachute payments are being used to pay back director loans and cover losses.

Kilby needs to either, admit that we have no money and our strict wage structure means that we can't realistically be promoted or back the manager. Our ambition is gone our money is gone and if we continue to get small attendances on matchday the club will soon be gone.

Or another Idea, beg other clubs to buy the deadwood that Laws signed. We may only get back 20% of what we wasted on them but that may be enough to sign one reasonable championship player. Unless Flood gets his hands on it first and uses to prop up his failing company.

Sorry for having a rant, had to get it off my chest.

A good "rant", wrexham, but I'm not convinced...
Good try, anyway.
Too many holes in your "argument" to be plausible, I'm afraid. Nme Laws' deadwood, for instance.
Still, you're being civil and on topic so it's good enough for me for the moment but, as a matter of interest, wrexham (!) where does this stuff about having to sell before we buy come from ?
Certainly not the BFC website or the Lancs Telegraph - you sure you've not got us mixed up with a couple of Prem strugglers down the road ?
Anyway, that's me lot for toneet.
Adios, amigo.

sorry, was having a particularly bad day, the Cork thing was the final straw. Howe was interviewed in the LET and said that we may have to sell in order to finance new purchases. Other comments such as "if finance allows", and the fact that we have not even been close to signing anyone is what worries me. We need to use the parachute payments for a premier league push, once they are gone that will be way beyond our means. It's now or in another 30 years i'm afraid, can see a rather large slump coming if we leave it too long. Players will be looking to leave if we fail in the coming season and they will be replaced by slightly less competent (being polite) players. Leading to mid table obscurity. It's all very worrying. I am hoping something will happen in the coming week to destroy my argument and prove me wrong.

With the pre-season fixtures having started and just one month to go, I suspect there'll be some action within the next week or so.
Corky settling for the South - and huge money - was disappointing. I like most of our squad but still reckon the midfield, although reasonably creative, is very lightweight when it matters.

I think McCann adds a bit of bite to the midfield, other than that I agree that it can be creative but lightweight. Will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks.
