Neon you and me must have watched a different fight. I saw a guy pushed back on the ropes for 8 rounds with his shoulder stuck out doing not much with the occasional flourish. Yes 12th round he actually looked good and a few points in other rounds. But he certainly didnt stay on the outside - lol, we was pushed back against the ropes for most the fight. And i like your word for holding

Simon west.. There's such a thing as boxing off of the back foot. Its not all about plodding forward, swinging punches and not connecting

Yeh my mistake - sitting on the ropes and the occasional counter is the way forward. Please let the Mayweather love continue.

When Muhammad Ali fights off the ropes he's famed and lauded for his rope-a-dope tactics.
When its Mayweather, he's ruining boxing for everyone
Mayweather might be a total ass but there's no denying his skills. He is a defensive genius in the ring.

Are you really comparing Alis dope on the rope to this? Really?

Explain to me what the difference is between Maheather fighting off the ropes and Ali.. are you so shortsighted that you can't see past the fact that Mayweather isn't called Muhammad Ali to acknowledge the fact it's the same thing

Ali done dope on the rope as he knew at the he was not the boxer he once was and had very little chance of winning toe to toe at the time. Why did mayweather do it? He thought he would struggle going toe to toe with Cotto?
