1) Luuk De Jong (FC Twente)- £12.5m. This is a 21 year old striker playing with average players around him and has scored a hat full of goals. yes its the dutch league but i think he's mobile enough to play in the premier league. he appears to have a much better all round game than carroll and for £12.5m, he'd be a snip of the price. this guy is probably worth around £18.
2) Scott Sinclair (Swansea)- £7m another unproven player who is average in the prem i hear you say. maybe but he's the sort of player we need. a winger with pace and confidence (unlike downing) to actually run at the full back and take him on. not only can he do this but he can score a few crackers as well. another young english player but again for £7million, i don't think you could argue.
3) Rasmus Elm (AZ Alkmaar)- £8m a xabi alonso replacement at last? he's got the ability, he's tall, strong, decent defensively, can take a great free kick and can put a decent cross in for the likes of carroll. he'd replace charlie adam in the midfield and would be competing with gerrard and lucas. we would also need to rely less on jay spearing who unfortunately doesn't look up to standard. in fairness £8m is probably not far off what he is actually worth but i think he could work in the midfield.
4) Aquilani (Liverpool)-FREE we paid £20million for him, so lets use it. he got some much needed creativity. with him in the side, we won't need to rely so much upon gerrard who simply is losing it. he's had a poor season apart from the everton game and when was the last time you saw gerrard smack one in from 30 yards like we used to. its time to start moving on and aquilani is a player who can do it and we've already git him!
5) Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)-FREE give this guy a chance. he is exactly what we need. bit a pace on the wing. could be a great impact player from the bench in home games. look at chamberlain at arsenal! he might even go to the euros. another player we've already got, so we might as well use him!

Scott Sinclair. Ex-Chelsea, very good prospect indeed, but I can't see him coming for less than £10M.hes fast, possesses a great deal of confidence. I haven't seen Elm, I'll be guided by others. JimmyTheRed

I'd take Dembele! He looked top class last Tuesday against us, passing the ball round well. The one thing concerns me is the fact that clubs are going to be pulling our pants down after what we paid for the rubbish in the summer!

Need a lot of players off the wage bill and out of the club before we think about signings.
Anyway ideally i would look at these:
Adam Johnson (Man city) RM, LM
Lewandowski (Dortmund) ST
Dembele (Fulham) CM, CAM, RM, LM
Sigurddson (Hoffenheim) CM, CAM
Hoilett (Blackburn) RM, LM, ST

Good list there scouseking5 but I don't think we'd get Lewandowski from Dortmund. He's an instrumental part of there team and they've just got shot of Barrios to china, I personally think we should of had a go for Barrios in jan!
People who need to go in the summer consist of.
Aurelio: contract finishing and Robinson needs to be back up now.
Aquilani: never really got the chance he deserved but it's quite clear he wants to go.
Carragher: absolute legend but it clear he's finished and should be given a coaching role.
Spearing: works hard, gives everything but he's not good enough and that's it.
And there's loads but I can't be bothered!
