Unacceptable

Well, it's not great but it's not exactly news either.

And who do you blame? The LTA? The players? The fact that tennis is not a mass-participation sport in this country? Andy Murray for not playing - all of the above?

I blame the fact that it`s percieved as a toff sport in GB, and the only interest the general public ever take in tennis is the two weeks of Wimbledon. It`s not like this in other countries. Wimbledon is used more as a social event, the place to be seen for the rich and famous where they get the freebies while the real tennis fan has to camp out and still end up watching it on the big screen on number 1 court.

I blame the LTA.

I blame the players, they have it too easy. Too many wildcards given out at Wimbledon.

Well I don`t actually blame Murray as he went off to Spain and avoided the LTA (but didn`t he get some LTA funding?). Maybe if he had stayed with the LTA he would be a few places higher than James Ward

Definitely unacceptable. I see that we're already struggling against the mighty powerhouse that is Luxembourg in our current Davis Cup tie. Makes me wonder where we'd be without Murray. Probably battling it out with the Faroe Isles. They could set up a Davis Cup team from Antarctica consisting of penguins and I reckon they'd win a match off us.

I would actually rank our underachievement in this sport as the worst of any country in the world of any sport, ever, taking into account we hold one of the majors and we're a 1st world largely populating country. Oh yeah and if that's not enough we helped devise the sport.

Maybe they should take Wimbledon off us and have the other Slam in Spain instead. Why should it be in GB if our players are so rubbish?
