Wingers

So Pilkington has joined the carrot crunchers....

Dyer to join Sheffield Wednesday....

As much as I'd love it I just don't see Routledge joining us....

So, where do we stand on the need for wingers? Any ideas?

Width yes but wingers - not necessarily.

The thing that has been wrong with the English game for years is the insistence of goal-keepers kicking the ball long, hollywood long-passes and wingers crossing
the ball for big strikers. Looks great but 6 or 7 times out of 10, you give the ball back to the opposition. Ask yourself how many of these sins you see Barca commit in a match?

Now back in the real World, Leicester do not have anything like the quality of Barcelona, but we are starting to hold the ball and pass it a lot better.

Bear in mind that Nugent and (possibly) Maynard are not old fashioned number 9's and are far better running on to a pass than contesting high balls with burly Championship centre-halfs.

So width - yes, but constant long ball and crossing - I don't think so.

Lest we forget, Gally made a significant contribution playing wider mid-field towards the end of last season and I also believe that with a good pre-season under his belt, Vassell could make the impact we hoped he would make last year.

That aside, I would still take Routledge tomorrow !

agree with prawnsandwich that gallagher had an excellent season last year as a winger, and vassell at times was a class above some of the championship full backs, if we can get one more in then i think we have a good set of wingers
The focus has got to be on getting a tight defence, Matt Mills please Mr Top

We have Gallagher who was crossing them in several times and no-one able to finish it but we dont need wingers, we played with 3 midfielders so do we need wingers?? Not really.

I totally agree with you "prawnsandwich" how many wingers do Barca have? As long as we keep playing the possession football as last season, along with the new additions, we do not need wingers. We can pass them all to death. How great is it to be a Leicester fan at the moment.
