Nicknames

I luv nicknames in football and think they are good for the game. Scholesy, Keeno, Giggsy are great examples of quality nicknames. MUFC beat the noisy neighbours hands down wen it comes to quality nicknames.

My nickname by way is Doom And.

We ditched nicknames for players in 2008 as it got us nowhere. Our last player with a nickname was Steven "Superman" Ireland, and now look where he is.

None of our current crop have nicknames and we're on the cusp of a league title. So perhaps they are more of a burden than a blessing.

We still have a few:
Zabba Dabba Doo
Big Vinny K
and wiki reckons that DeJong has two nicknames; "the Terrier" and "the Lawnmower" x

Now you mention it, we also have Little Joe and JoLo as well.

Maybe it was just that Ireland wasn't all that good then.

I can't believe I forgot Merlin for Silva!

A lot of fans nicknames for City players haven't really been picked up by the tabloids yet, so most people don't think of them; you just find yourself using them in conversation x
