In the transfer gossip bit of Daily record we are back in for Leon Best.
He's a decent enough player to be honest, always impressed me with his touch and can nick a goal too.
We all know we need a striker with a more physical element to his game than our current crop but I'm not convinced its the JVOH style we should be looking at. These guys are generally slow with a poor touch and dictate your tactics to play the long ball game which does not suit our recent style or the players we currently have.
I'd be more inclined to look at a Best type striker - 6ft, athletic, fast, all the attributes of a decent striker.
Not 100% convinced he is the answer but Lenny admitted we are looking at someone to get on the end of crosses rather than a hitman so someone like Best could fit the bill.

We need to be looking at a Chris Sutton type player, tall and strong but with technique, not a useless immobile lump. But when big lumps are being sold for £35 million what can you expect to get for £2-3 mil?

His goalscoring took a hit this year compared to last as he was doing all the donkey work for Ba. Good in the air. Not slow. Works hard for the team. He'd be a v good signing.

Russian clubs have loads of money & will not sell cheap.
Eastern Europeans are slowly learning they can hold to these players abit longer & sell direct to the EPL/Spain etc for far money.

I'm fully aware Russia's not short of cash.
You carry on looking for the next Daryl Murphy, I'll stick to my opinion there's better value in the eastern european leagues.

There ar bound to be a few big lads out there. Still raging we never got Janko. There has to be another Viduka or Jelavic out there.
