Some would say that the more league titles a team wins, the bigger the club they are. To some extent I agree.
I believe league titles won by any team can only be taken seriously from the moment the Football League stretched to four national divisions (from 1958 onwards) as since then it has been more or less consistantly a level playing field.
Therefore, here is a list of teams who have won the league from 1958 to the present day:
1. Manchester United (14)
2. Liverpool (13)
3. Arsenal (6)
4. Everton (4)
5=. Chelsea (3)
5=. Leeds United (3)
7. Derby County (2)
8=. Aston Villa (1)
8=. Blackburn Rovers (1)
8=. Burnley (1)
8=. Ipswich Town (1)
8=. Manchester City (1)
8=. Nottingham Forest (1)
8=. Tottenham Hotspur (1)
8=. Wolverhampton Wanderers (1)
