What we really NEED

I notice a lot of arsenal fans seem to think we need a proper defensive midfielder. On the contrary I believe that we are in dire need of a proper creative midfielder. I was looking up statistics and this season, arsenal have created the LEAST goal scoring opportunities under wengers reign.

Teams no longer fear arsenal and are more than having a go at them in recent times. what do you guys take on this ?

We desperately need a top creative midfielder and another quality wide player. One of the main reasons why we concede so many goals is because our front 4 players don't create many goalscoring opportunities which results in us adopting a very gung-ho approach with the likes of Song and Vermaelen getting far too forward in attack and leaving acres of space at the back.

I agree that both will be welcomed, but wenger has the obsession with protecting useless players e.g Ramsey, Denilson and Bendtner.

Im not his biggest fan but even a player in the mould of Gourcuff or Belhanda would inject some needed creativity and pace. Ramsey, as much as i like the lad, he's a useless football with absolutely NO awareness

I think that is clearly not the case.

Wenger has lost patience with both Bendtner and Denilson.

They were sent out on loan because we could not get buyers.

Ramsey on the other hand has potential and Wenger will give him a second chance like he does with all players after serious injuries.

e.g. Rosicky and Eduardo

He was ruthless when he let Eduardo go, but wisely saw Rosicky still had much to offer.

Ramsey will get his chance like the rest and if he falls short he will be cut loose.

When Song is your most creative player with 11 assists you know something is wrong in midfield.

We NEED an AM. We could really do with M'Vila. With M'Vila, Wilshere, Song, Arteta vying for 2 places in midfield we look strong but not creative.

I must agree with your comment. M'vila is exactly what Flamini was in midfield.. Very robust and won the ball back quickly and passed onto our creative fulcrum that was helb and fabregas. Those players had teams on the back foot for 90% of matches. According to Paul Merson yesterday, arsenal are the worst team in the country without the football. He's right though, swansea proved exactly that

Maybe we should put in a cheeky bid for Sahin as he is not in favour at Madrid along with M'Vila.

A MF next season of,

--------M'Villa
Wilshire - Sahin

Would be very tastly.

we need both.

I agree we do not have enough creativity in the squad.

We don't really play the same way we did when Cesc was in the team.

I think Wenger is looking at the front 2 on either side of Van Persie to be the team's main creative influence.

The midfield are expected to play a more technical passing game and go hunting the ball like Barcelona.

Unfortunetly the above has not been a great success as we do not have a quality defensive midfielder and badly missed Wilshere.

From the creative point of view Gervinho and Arshavin were major let downs.

I expect Wenger to stick to this system and therefore we will not see a creative midfielder come in.

We will not get an attacking mid. I think we will get M'vila, leaving us with him, Jack and Arteta as first choice. Song, diaby, ramsey will all play a lot too (okay Diaby won't but that will be the intention).

Like someone said, I think Wenger wants to improve our front three. RVP, Podolski, Walcott, Gervinho, Ox and one in the Goetze/Hazard mould may come in. We then have the option of putting RVP, Ox or the new signing in the hole behind RVP, Podolski or Theo.

I think people underrate Wilshere's attacking ability. Remember he used to be a winger/cam much more than a box to box player. Last year we had fab so jack was played deeper, it also let him improve his all round game. But he is at his best further forward.
