JA606 England Squad - Centre Midfield PT 1

Hi

Please vote for who you think should be included in the central midfield for the 23-man England squad out of the following:

1 star) for Scott Parker

2 stars) for Gareth Barry

3 stars) for Leon Britton

4 stars) for Michael Carrick

5 stars) for James Milner

There are many options for central midfield but to make things easier I have condensed it down to 10 and made part 1 more about holding midfielders and part 2 more about creative/attacking midfielders, with the 2 most voted players from each part making up the 4-man central midfield for the JA606 23-man England squad. Sorry for missing certain ones out, again I've tried to go for players most likely to be in the running. I know Milner isn't primarily a holding midfielder but he is a utility player who could play there.

The following are either ruled out or very likely to be ruled out anyway:

Jack Wilshere - Injured
Tom Huddlestone - Injured
Jack Rodwell - Injured
Joey Barton - Thug
Owen Hargreaves - Hardly plays/Injured(?)

Admin I'm limited to only 7 teams so if you can add more I'd appreciate it

Thanks

Scholes is open minded.

Not sure how he feels about the euros tho...

Carrick is way better than Parker!

My dog is way better than Parker! Does running around all day aimlessly with shàggy hair much better.

Can't believe people voted for Parker > carrick

Out of that selection has to be Carrick. The guy has been majestic for us this season, and we came runners up on goal difference.
Hopefully Gary Nev reminds Roy of just how good he is, seeing as no-one in the media seems to be able to remember

Outside bet,a player with a good first touch can spot a pass and score the odd goal or two and has never been selected for an England squad, but is the sort of player that could do well as an International.Leon Osman

Osman is a good player actually, and is the type of player you need in international football.

Barry (and Carrick for that matter) is essential for the England squad, essential for the first 11, and would walk into any Premier League team that plays 4231 or a variation of that formation.

However he is not a good choice for a 442 formation, as it demands much more increased speed and stamina from the midfield centre pairing. That said 442 is a flawed system for top level football, especially tournament football. Hence if England set up as 442 it won't make a difference who is playing x

Agreed on the formation x but Barry looks woeful every time he puts on an England shirt. Parker in the holding 2 with a.n.other is the way

Everytime I've seen Parker play for England he gives the ball away in dangerous areas, plus his style just won't do at international level; I just don't see what all the hype is about x
