England

I am sick and tired of people commenting on articles, 'I don't care about England' ect ect.

I'm sure if we got to the semi-finals you would all be watching and cheering the team on, hailing Hodgson a miracle worker

Maybe we don't have a team like Holland or Spain, but at the end of the day it's our national team, it doesn’t matter who plays for what club, or if your favourite player isn’t selected, you should get behind them.

Rant over.

Other reasons (accidentally pressed send):

- we still rate players like Carroll, who are big and strong but have little technical ability.
- the stupid England band that play the same boring tune repeatedly.
- fear of getting rid of the old guard
- Adrian Chiles

Despite all these reasons, I still support England because I have been brought up to support my team.

Agree with you entirely, and the posters who say we are boring to watch.

Scary news today that Roy has hinted he will give players who have frequently failed to perform another chance.

More of the same to come will be my guess. A midfield that contains Barry, Gerrard and Lampard is just not going to frighten anyone.

Lets be honest. The weight of expectation stems from 2 major sources -

Firstly - Media scutiny and constant over exposure of players, manager and staff in the build up to any tournament. Why can't they just decline all these pointless press Q & A sessions where all the Q's are pathetic and led in such a way that the journo's get their pointless sound bite to an equally obvious and boring question!

Secondly England's players being constantly reminded of past failures/successes and that being from the "home of football" means everything to the public. This is partly true, it means a lot to everyone but we just want to see England play good football! No wonder they feel under pressure!

Busby,I understand your point, I too dislike the "Don't care bunch", and I'll never join them.

That being said however, i'll give my reasons as to why England frustrate me time and time again, and why I far prefer United than England. And why I cannot call myself an 'England Fan'. the following passage shall be named thus:

Dr. Eriksson - and how I came to hate the team.

1) Boring boring football, I sit down to watch England whenever they play, and am constantly amazed as to why I do it. They play one of the most boring games I watch, I really don't like it, and it's turning me off international football completely.

2) Shooting ourselves in the foot, hand, chest and head. We misplay a player like Scholes, the best English player in decades, and arguably ever. We always have Heskey, yeah he's decent at his job, but it breeds point 1.

3) The fans and the 'Meedjur' - I hate having to sit through endless people talking about "our year" and the "golden generation", if we accept we're a second rate club, rather than the Brazil of the UK then I think we'll be able to play without the pressure.

4) There are other options available, I for one would love to see a Great Britain team, led by David Moyes, who is a far better manager than Hodgson and Redknapp. I think we'd get far more success if all the home nations opted for a unified team.

That is why I can no longer be an England fan I'm afraid. Not for the reasons Busby has pointed out, which are fickle etc.

Alot of this anti England sentiment stems from the abuse Becks got at the world cup. Time to move on!

Thankfully, the media have backed off (for now) and I think expectations are the lowest they have ever been..... This might be a blessing.

I hoped Roy would make some big changes, but I can see why he wont, for this tournament at least.

Injuries to Wilshire, Cleverley and Rodwell have meant there can be little progress in midfield. So the old guard will have to do.

Hopefully the likes of Welbeck, Walker, Ox and Jones will get some game time and we finally have a decent keeper in Joe Hart.

I understand people frustrations, and agree with most of them. Just despise those who say they don't care about it for fickle reasons and will soon be celebrating if we are successfully. I paid to go and watch every game under McClaren and the football was dire but I don’t see how you can just turn around and say, “I don’t care because we are pants”.

If anybody said this about their club they’d be labelled a plastic.
