GK is OK.
Defence would be better if Terry was left in England.
Midfield looks promising enough.
Forwards look 'iffy'. Those first two games without Rooney will be crucial. (And if we do well in them.. ought Rooney to be brought back in for the third one?)
Not a squad which looks as if it will win the competition.
But QF's and maybe Semi's is possible.

Now come on, Carroll scored 4 premiership goals this season. Thats over a 10% goal rate. Germany are sh!tting themselves

Downing is brought presumably as a player who can play well down both sides
Hodgson obviouslly thinks carroll is the best in his specialised position
