Its a difficult situation

Considering all of the problems we have is it really fair to put Roy Hodgson down only two weeks into the job?

Before taking the job he had the John Terry and Rio Ferdinand situation waiting for him, in a perfect world both would play but im afraid we arent. If Rio wasnt in the right mind set to play then to leave him out is surely a good call, at 33 im not sure we will miss him awfully anyway.

Ive heard people moaning that Holt and Carrick arent in the squad, i think people are watching a different game to me. Grant Holt has had a decent year but is he really an international striker? He couldnt get in Forest's side only a couple of years ago and now people are moaning because he isnt in the England squad? To be honest im relieved and same has to go for Michael Carrick. Isnt Carrick just a worst version of Gareth Barry or Scott Parker? It fustrates me watching him play, when ive ever seen him he only ever goes side ways.

The big question is should we have more strikers?

No, i think 4 is enough considering we have Walcott as well! Carroll is the most expensive English player ever i know he had a bad start to the season but he is a typical England forward big powerful with decent feet. We have to have one in the squad however sadly Crouch hasnt made it, but has Crouch just scored more because he suits Stokes style of play?

Micah Richards is another one to have missed the cut, but he hasnt even been a regular for city? Has he? Cahill is a better centre half and Richards isnt a natural right back.

The two uncapped players are a refreshing addition! Ruddy is a good back up to the back up.. in all honesty is he going to even play? As for 'The Ox' he is an amazing talent! He can go anywhere across the midfield and is probably the most skillful player we have. Id love to see him just off the main striker.

Defoe, has clearly been picked because he has International experience which is hard to say for the majority of the squad. Yes he hasnt played that reguarly for his club but is he the best finisher we have? Sturridge is exciting but is he a striker or a winger?

Considering everything, WELL DONE ROY.

COME ON ENGLAND, LETS GET BEHIND THE LADS!!!!!

Because it's a public board and he can Cstander.

I am with Harper, if it was England and Germany in the final and there was a Derby player on the German sub bench I would be singing Deutchland Deutchland Uberalles. Club before country every time.

Cstander, what spartacus said. My post was merely to highlight my club before country stance, and also the FACT that will hughes is better than downing. Perhaps you could give me your email address and in the future ill run my prospective posts past you so you can deem which ones are worthy of passing on to the public domain. Up to you, I'm happy either way.

No Spartacus. The key point is the mob are so keen to rip the micky out of the guy with the speech impediment they completely fail to see the bigger picture - i.e they have the chance to save Brian.

IMO the Pythons were highlighting the stupidity of people who always reach for the nearest cheap joke and the danger of the mob.

If you want to interpret it as a bunch of clever people making a gag out of a speech impediment with no deeper layer of meaning, then that's your right, but I don't agree with you.

Oh and BTW, Melbourne is where I live now, but I started life in the not-at-all-leafy Pinxton.

Now you know that does it suddenly make you agree with me? If not, why bring up where any of us 'hail from' in the first place?

Wideboy

Probably the most succinct post I have ever read since I first arrived on the 606 scene
It is doubtful that Roy Hodgson, nor any other England manager for that matter, will ever be given the time, respect and patience to turn us into a force to be reckoned with. The mob mentality in this country makes me sick to the stomach, unfortunately it is now engrained into every walk of life in the UK.
