*ribbit*
I'm a bit bored of Arsenal fans justifying a player signing by saying "he's better than Park or Chamakh"
For goodness sake we are Arsenal. We should sign top quality players not just those slightly better than than the rubbish outliers currently in our squad.
We can realistically have 3/4 strikers in our squad next season, and they should all be the best they can possibly be for our budget etc.
If we want to win stuff we need quality in depth! There are probably 100 strikers better than Chamakh and Park but this doesn't mean we should sign them all, just because they are slightly better than are current players.
All this about Del Piero, the guy is 37 for goodness sake! Yes he is better than the aforementioned strikers, but we can do SO MUCH BETTER!
Players like Podolski are a step in the right direction.
Rant Over.
Stop saying this guys, we need ambition!

Why is it idiotic to be unsure about Podolski being a great signing and thinking another player would be a great success in our team?
And any signing would be as well as Podolski, it isn't one v another. Two completely different players.

Forever, who said de Jong cannot get in the Dutch squad? He is in it. When you have Robben, RvP and the likes established it is hard to force your way in as a 19 year old. Alot easier for an established player to keep his place...

Podolski would be more of certainty than De Jong. He's certainly more proven than him.

And we already have Podolski. I am talking about further signings to improve greatly on Chamakh and Park.
And I wouldn't say Podolski is a certain success.

Podolski has been playing in a tougher league against better defenders as well, plus the Bundesliga is the most similar league to the PL in terms of the pace of the play. I watched Cologne several times during my 4-week exchange there, and Poldi was a real natural leader there, everyone looked up to him, although I suppose that could just be down to his hero status (the fans literally worship him)

De Jong will actually be 22 by next season.
The signing of De Jong instead of Podolski would be the perfect example of why we never win anything. We need players now, not in 3 years time when the senior members in their prime will recognise that by the time the team is of age to challenge they will be retiring.

The signing of De Jong instead of Podolski
========
WE HAVE ALREADY SIGNED PODOLSKI
Nowhere have I said "instead of", always as well as...
de Jong is not 3 years away, he is already a top striker.
100%, relegated. Not hard to look a class above when the rest are so bad. Same poor reasoning as to why Hoilett and Yakubu are talked about on here.

I understand you didn't say 'instead'. But you said you are not sure on podolski, and then go on about how we should go all out to buy De jong. Which means that you would obviously prefer De Jong to Podolski if you had a choice.

Bent (Option in smaller games and score off the bench)
Callejon/Soldado - Class forwards who would be a great purchase!
