Tonight, the top three in the betting for the Villa job are:
1 - SOLSKJAER
2 - LAMBERT
3 - MARTINEZ
With Martinez in talks with Liverpool and Dave Whelan dissing Villa again and Lambert reportedly not interested in Villa this seemingly leaves OGS as the next likely Villa manager. But how good is he? He's managed Man United Reserves for one year and Molde, the Norwegain champions for one year. That's relatively inexperienced.
Exactly what does anyone know of Solskjaer? Does he encourage entertaining football? He does have a championship of course but Roy Hodgson has sackfuls of Scandinavian championships.
So how good is he?
Options dwindling fast

If you get Solskjaer, that would be a steal!
He may only be there for a couple of seasons as he is earmarked to replace Fergie, but he will be a huge success.

I am excited at the prospect of OGS, and I think he fits us in many ways.
He would be a cheaper option, and he would likely be interested. As you mention, Lambert may not be interested, and Martinez is in talks with Liverpool - so who else would appeal....

We can't rush into this. Appoint McDonald as caretaker, even if he is still boss after 5 games into season. PLEASE Lerner, do not settle for mediocrity. Our fans were right last time about McLeish and you didn't listen. OGS is not up to it. Too inexperienced. Just because he played for United, does not make him a decent manager- yet. Lets get some quality in, both players and manager. We deserve it.

Aussie, I agree with you mate. I just think that Villa is too big a job for OGS at the moment, there’s too much to sort out. Bigger names have tried and failed. If we’re going for a rookie, I’d prefer to recruit from within.
I would love to see Lambert given the chance. Even he’s a gamble but he has proved himself and Norwich played some decent stuff, last year.
However, best choice for me is Curbishley. Big enough and experienced enough to take on the challenge, great Premier League record, affinity with the Villa, ambitious, brilliant Academy set up at Charlton and never afraid to play the youngsters at Charlton and West Ham. We desperately need a period of stability to allow us to rebuild. Curbs is the man, no more risks, please.

Should go for Poyet.
Ole is too inexperienced.
