Battered in quarters, hammered in semis and dominated in the finals yet champions league winners. No suprise that a Chelsea fan is having a dig at "stats".

in response to the OP, viv richards batted during a golden era of pace bowling on dodgier wickets with the rules less favourable to the batsman than they are today.
gilchrist was a fine player but not in richards league

Whoever said Gilchrist was better than Richards must be high on crack.
Had Sir Viv batted today, particularly in the IPL, he would have demolished everything.
He also played when there was no 'one bouncer per over' rule, without helmets and other protective gear bar gloves and pads.

When Gilchrist gets a Knighthood for his services to cricket then possibly you can start to compare. That will put him in the illustrious company of Richards, Hadlee, Sobers and Cowdrey.

I paid good money to watch England play all the test teams and when on sparkling form Viv Richards, Graham Gooch, Brian Lara and Graeme Smith leave the rest floundering in their wake.
